National Healthcare for the USA

just an fyi for anyone interested - there is a major drive on to push the bill forward for national healthcare in the usa.

you can sign the petition by going to http://www.onecarenow.org/.. it has gone through one part of the process last year and now the push is on to get it moved to the next level - it is backed by over 400 groups including the uaw i believe.

it is no longer if it happens, it is only a matter of time as to when it happens.

I recently had to drop my health care insurance. I could no longer afford the premiums so now i join the ranks of the folks without coverage. Cross my fingers and hope i never have to have surgery.

i just called my bank to change my debit card to an atm card.

not wanting my account cleaned out in case the debit gets lost or stolen.

i was on the phone 40 minutes they wanted my passport no, my green card no, wanted to know where i conduct my business, what date i opened up the account.

Pardon me, but aren't ATM and debit cards the same?

A debit card has either the mastercard logo or the visa logo on it and can be used at the atm machine plus various shops, gas stations, restaurants, etc. just like a credit card, [but rental car agencies will not let you use them to rent a car], that is why they are basically useless. It just enables people who steal them to have access to your checking and savings account because the debit card is linked to both of these. Most banks will send these to you because they want you to think you are getting an extra service, but let's say you have 200 in you checking account and have written a check for 100 then someone takes your card and goes to town, then your check will bounce...and getting the money replaced is a bigger hassel.

An atm card can only be used at an atm and only with the pin number.

hey, i was reading online that some of the one pound coins have "nemo me impune lacessit" milled around the edges.

are those coins in circulation there??

cause i would like to have to have one from this year (2006).

I didn't call the fraud dept. I called just to change my bank card. My card had not been stolen. Alot of the questions are to do with the new home land security rules which to me are is a bunch of intrusive bull s--- My passport number what has that to do with anything????

I mean really who and their mother memorizes the date they opened up their bank accounts. They wanted to know if i had a bank account in another country. On and on. Then my roomie tells me it's the new homland security rules. I say it's a bunch of intrusive bull ---t. Anyone here had any similar experiences.

Cow dung mushrooms? Anyone heard of this?

i played golf with a guy on friday that said a fad in the 80's was a mushroom that only grew in cow dung?.

was he pulling my leg?

he said it sent you on a lsd type trip.. i told him i would not put anything in my mouth that came from any dung, maybe use it as a topical solution, but not orally.. breeze

I don't know about them growing in cow dung. They used to grow wild in fields we named them magic mushrooms. Kind of produced a mild psychedelic state. We used to make tea out of them. God that was a blast from the past.
