Being Bad in the Kingdom Hall
by Funchback inwhat things did (do) you or someone you know do in the kingdom hall that was a no-no?.
i remember in the 80s when, during the meeting, three friends and i were breakdancing in the foyer.
3 out of 4 us are happily out of that organization.. as i was trudging through my fade and attending meetings, i sometimes dwelled on how much time and money i wasted during my years as a jw.

ive watched all the videos but i never caught where they specifically said "inactive ones". I know it said unrepentant sinners. But is there an actual specific place where it says "inactive ones"? I'd like to re-watch that video if someone can direct me to to it. I"m inactive and have been for almost a year and my family is going to the convention july 1.

The only way we can learn is if there is someone to teach. I personally love your posts on evolution. You explain things in a way that works for me. So thank you for broadening my understanding. :)

Did others experience this on the ministry or among JWs generally?
by slimboyfat insometimes it's hard to know if our own experience of jws was typical and what features were peculiar to our own area or the individual jws we knew personally.
i was wondering if others experienced this among jws:.
a few times on the ministry, when we were working wealthy areas with large houses, some brothers and sisters would make the comment that they look forward to taking ownership of one of these big houses after armageddon, when the worldly people have vacated them.

I heard this a lot in car groups with other pioneers when i was pioneering. It always made me uncomfortable how they were looking forward to the death of a husband, wife and children just to get into that house. Why not just stop washing windows for a living and make some cash and get your own big house without counting on the death of someone? I was always amazed how they would say vile things like that in the car but sugar woudn't melt in their mouth if the HH actually opened the door and was kind. It really did a number on my faith. I attribute some of my loss of faith specifically to the ministry and how the JW pioneers behaved.

Why do people need religion in this century?
by sweetgrass ini think people need religion because of fear.
fear of death and what will happen at death if they have been good or bad.
people say it gives them hope but is this not born too out of fear of not seeing dead loved ones again, or having a better life in the afterlife?

I think people need it for the same reasons they have always needed it. To control other men through fear, to gain power and because of the uncertainty of what death is like and what happens to us when we die.

rebel8- No I haven't. I've heard of humanism but I haven't really looked into anything about it. I will give it a look.

I've been found out!
by pale.emperor inwell, thats it folks.. my identity on here has been rumbled and reported to the elders.
someone, somehow, has figured out that im a member of this site and - rather than speak to me - has promptly reported me to the elders.
i just feel sad for my daughter.

pale.emperor- I'm sorry and congrats all at once. Rip that JW personality off like a bandaid lol When i was in my hubs set his foot down about my daughter being baptized. He said he had no problem with me raising her that way and taking her to meetings and conventions. But he said absolutely not on baptism until she was at LEAST 18 and could make an adult decision. Maybe you can approach it that way. He was nice about it and very respectful and it worked for us. But about 5 yrs after that I left the JWs so it doesnt matter now.
