  I believe the "affiliation" was a slip up on the WTBTS's part. If I remember correctly you used to have to sign this form in ordr to use the United Nations library then they changed a rule making any using the library an affiliated member but didnt really notify said people of the change. This put a witnesses name on the new list. I belive once they found out it was corrected.
  I'm wondering what it means by having so many people who hate this religion? You don't see people complaining when a catholic does something wrong. How many religions do you know of where they kick people out for not following the rules EVEN if they donate to the church? Seems most weaker religions just change the rules if they cant keep enough people indoors to fill their collection plates. (lets say its ok to be gay so you keep coming to church, even tho the bible says a man found laying with a man should be put to death - how all of a sudden do they figure God says its ok? the answer is MONEY.

  isn't a prize something that is given to a contestant in a competition, say to a prize-fighter?

  the "prize" is the gift of everlasting life. A gift he chooses to give to those who follow him. Something God will give a person willingly and gladly when he earns it.

  i would exhort you to first ask... and then listen... to the master's voice on the matter, and if you cannot 'hear'... or exercise faith in what you 'hear'... then go to the 'scriptures'.

  for indeed, it is 'written'... in the scriptures.

  it is not, however, 'written' in the letters, histories, chronologies and gospels.

  you asked "what does god require of us?"
  jesus answers at matthew 22:36 by saying (note this is after being asked what the greatest commandment in the law is) "you MUSt love Jehovah your god with your whole heart, with your whole soul, and with your whole mind" (also of note is that he follows with "the second, like it, is this, 'you must love your neighbor as yourself'")
  Think of it like this, he is the father of a newborn baby who without him would falter and not survive in the world, then as he grows the father teaches him and also lets him learn on his own so that one day he will be strong and wise enough to go out on his own. Now as a father he would ned to discipline and advise his child when needed as you would a small child who "discovers" a power outlet.
  following all of Gods rules can be an ardous task, but those who can perservere have the hope for everlasting life.
