Man convicted of killing Cheltenham girlfriend and unborn child; judge imposes two life prison terms

NORRISTOWN — A Philadelphia man showed no emotion as a jury convicted him of fatally stabbing his pregnant girlfriend and killing their unborn child during a “brutal” attack inside the woman’s Cheltenham apartment.

Tristian Jones, 36, of the 900 block of East Johnson Street, was convicted on Tuesday in Montgomery County Court of charges of first-degree murder, murder of an unborn child and possessing an instrument of crime in connection with the Feb. 19, 2018, fatal stabbing of Eboney N. White, 31, and her unborn child in her apartment in the 2000 block of Mather Way in the Elkins Park section of Cheltenham.

White was 7½ months pregnant with Jones’s child at the time of her death. The fetus did not survive the attack.

White’s mother and other relatives wept and hugged each other after the verdict was announced. Grieving relatives described White as "bright, articulate and beautiful," and as a woman who "had everything to live for."

“You didn’t have to slaughter her the way you did. She loved you,” Ernestine Scott, White’s mother, tearfully addressed Jones before the judge imposed his punishment.

The jury deliberated just over two hours before reaching the verdict.

Judge Wendy G. Rothstein, who presided over the trial, immediately sentenced Jones to consecutive life prison terms for the two deaths.

“The jury determined you are a cold blooded killer. There is no justification for your conduct. It was brutal. Both victims deserved better. Both victims deserve justice,” Rothstein addressed Jones, adding he appeared to lack remorse.

Jones addressed the courtroom before learning his fate and continued to maintain his innocence.

“I’m just sorry the truth wasn’t able to come out today,” Jones, seated next to defense lawyer Carrie L. Allman, said, adding, “Eboney was a great person.”

Assistant District Attorney Kristen Kemp argued for the consecutive life prison terms against Jones, suggesting such a sentence would be a “symbolic gesture” for the two precious lives that were lost.

“We did not just have one life that was brutally taken by the defendant. We have two,” argued Kemp, who was assisted at trial by co-prosecutor Alexandria MacMaster.

Mary Pugh, a victim advocate representing White’s 13-year-old daughter, who witnessed a portion of the attack, read a statement from the little girl.

“I knew that there would be justice for my mother,” the little girl wrote. “Life without mom is painful.”

An investigation began when Cheltenham police responded to White’s apartment at 3:20 a.m. Feb. 19 after receiving a 911 call from her then 12-year-old daughter, who had retreated to a bathroom after seeing a man stabbing her mother, according to the criminal complaint filed by county Detective Todd Richard and Cheltenham Detective Ronald Cupo.

Police found White dead in the master bedroom with multiple stab wounds to her torso. White’s 12- and 7-year-old daughters, who also were in the apartment, were unharmed.

White’s daughter who made the 911 call told authorities she was in bed but was awakened by the sound of screaming. The girl told detectives she went to her mother’s bedroom and saw a man, wearing a grey sweatshirt, hood and a mask covering the lower portion of his face, stabbing her mother with a knife.

The girl testified at trial that the killer had a similar build, stance and mannerisms as her mother’s boyfriend, whom she referred to as “Mr. Tristian.”

Jones did not testify at the trial.

But Allman suggested the child made assumptions about Jones being the killer and that prosecutors had insufficient evidence to prove Jones committed the crime.

Allman also suggested another man White dated in the past and who abused her in the past could be the killer.

When he was interviewed by detectives on Feb. 19, Jones stated that while he is married, he and White had been dating since spring 2017 and she was carrying his child, who was due in early April 2018, according to the arrest affidavit. Jones allegedly said the two had discussed introducing their children to each other on the day of White’s death and that she had been “mad” he was not ending his marriage.

In the two days leading up to White’s death, a string of text messages revealed White and Jones discussing their unborn child — whom they called Travis — and his impact on their families. They discussed how to talk to their other children about their affair, with Jones writing he “committed a sin” and seeming to struggle with how he would teach his children “fornication is a sin” when that is what he had committed.

“I don’t want any of the kids including yours thinking sex before marriage is okay,” Jones, a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses denomination, wrote in one text message, according to court papers.

Prosecutors alleged Jones lied to White when he claimed he had informed his family that White was pregnant with his child.

But Allman argued having an affair and lying to a girlfriend or a wife is not a crime and did not make Jones a killer.

Detectives alleged Jones gave inconsistent descriptions of the clothing he had been wearing Feb. 18 and 19 and about his whereabouts around the time of the killing.

Interpretation of Acts 15:28,29

what does the mandate to "abstain from blood" mean for jehovah's witnesses freed from the control of the governing body?.

it had previously been understood that the best translation of acts 15: 28-30 was "to abstain from blood.

" however, a careful analysis of the passage shows that the best translation of this passage is "to abstain from (shedding) blood," where the word "pour out," which does not appear in ancient manuscripts and other biblical versions, does.it appears there understood in elliptical form.in the same way it happened in the case of colossians 1: 16-20 where the new world translation of the holy scriptures correctly inserted the word "other" several times, understood there in elliptical form, in the phrase of the original greek "all things ", thus obtaining the correct translation" all (other) things ".even though christianity reaffirms itself in translating this passage as saying that "through him all things were created", because he maintains that jesus is god according to his pagan doctrine of the trinity, multiple biblical passages sustainthe biblical truth that jesus is not jehovah god, but his beloved son that god later used as his creative partner.according to this paul said that "though he existed in the form of god, he did not give consideration to a usurpation, namely, that he should be equal to god, no, rather, he emptied himself and took the form of a slave and he came to be in the likeness of men, more than that, when he was in the manner of a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death, yes, death on a torture stake, for this same reason, also, god he exalted a superior position and kindly gave him the name that is above all else, so that in jesus' name every knee of those [who are] in heaven and those who are [over] the earth and those [who are] under the ground, and openly recognize * every tongue that jesus christ is lord for the glory of god the father.

The eating‎ and transfusing are two different bodily processes. Blood which is eaten is digested

and ‏destroyed. Blood which is transfused is not eaten, digested, or destroyed. Why? Because

eating blood involves the body’s digestive system, and transfusion involves the circulatory

system.

A similar Watchtower teaching regarding the rejection of vaccinations, was classified as Biblical

truth in the 1930’s. However, Jehovah’s Witnesses today are free to receive vaccinations and

even encouraged to do so Will the doctrine on blood be changed also? The saddest fact is that

because of its present teaching on blood transfusions, the Watchtower has led many to a

pre-mature grave.

The Watchtower uses three main Scripture references in support of their theory. The first verse

is Genesis 9:4. Here a command is given that refers to “the eating of blood”, certainly not

receiving transfusions. Noah is commanded not to eat flesh that still had the blood in it; in

other words, animals not properly drained of blood. Their second “proof text” is found at

Leviticus 17:10-16. Again, we find reference to the actual eating of the blood of animals. These

verses are no way connected with transfusions between humans.

The final reference examined is Acts 15:20. Here it says to “abstain from things contaminated by

idols and from fornication and from what is strangled and from blood.” We read in Acts 15:21,

“For Moses, from ancient generations has in every city those who preach him, since he is read in

the synagogues every Sabbath.” It now becomes clear that abstaining from these four items is

referred back to the law of Moses in Leviticus 17. Therefore, we can see, beyond dispute, that

the abstaining from blood does in no way refer to receiving blood transfusions as the Watchtower's

interpretation wishes it to.

God forbade his ancient people to drink the blood of lower animals. It Is human blood that is

used in blood transfusion.

Drinking the blood of lower animals necessitates their death. Blood transfusions do not require

the death of those who donate their blood.

In Leviticus 17:10,11 we read: “And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the

strangers that sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face

against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people. For the life

of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement

for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.” The expression,

“any manner of blood,” cannot be construed to include human blood, for human blood was not

offered on altars by Israel.

It's time

we got a call from close jw family, that it is now time to visit the kingdom hall again because armagedon is a question of a few months.

now it will happen in a very close time, the brothers say so, was the message.. i had earlier the feeling that jw's think the time has arrived because what they say and what they do, work like mad men with their chart every weekend.. so the expetations are high.. gorby's wife replied "how do you know, you should not know day and hour".

stay alert was the reaction.. so sad and so stupid.. g. .

Introducing myself

i have been introduced to this site by my new friends that are helping me navigate through the reality of waking up and finding out that i have been lied to my whole life.

i grew up in the truth and have given over thirty years to this organization and the few years i wasn’t there my mind was certainly trapped.

the more i think about it i am really not that surprised there was a lot along the way that should have woken me up but it took till recently.
