  DIGNITY IN DYING,ASSISTED DYING...YOUR VIEWS

  The RoyalCollege of Pysicians (RCP) has dropped its 13 year opposition to the concept of helping terminally

  ill patients die. It is illegal in the UK.

  Following a poll of its members, the college has now adopted a neutral stance on the issue of assisted dying.The RCP's neutral stance means neither they support nor oppose a change in the law and will not be focusing on assisted dying in their work.Instead they will continue to champion high quality palliative care services.

  A retired lecturer from Shropshire, Noel Conway, who is terminally ill with motor neurone disease,feels cheated. He says "this medieval mindset has prevented him having the right to control when he dies". The only way he can end his life now in the UK is to remove his ventilator. Although he is not ready to die yet coz he is busy publishing a collection of short stories and finishing his memoirs (he uses voice recognition software).He wants his doctor to be allowed to prescribe him a lethal dose of drugs, when he has less than 6months to live.

  Last act as an elder

  i was just reminiscing about the last thing i did as an elder.

  after a painful awakening due to family matters,,deleted as an elder due to what i now have come to realize is normal children trying to be more than just zombie tag alongs who don't make problems for their parents and want to explore their talents and intellect.

  mistakes and difficulties arise in families but real families do not resort to draconian measures when hormonally influenced children want to take a different path.

  Many can not or do not spare the time for lengthy posts but it is what it is.

  Everyone is entitled to read or not read, free will, ones choice etc.

  Even I am guilty of this But I find that when I do take the time to read full posts , it is worth it.

  yes it is a long post. I did not want to take away anything from it coz it is a sad lifestory of someone,I respect their feelings and do not wish to cut, and paste as I see fit. It is just not acceptable to me.
