IMO, the 'society' declined a camera interview because they would not be able to fabricate a legally-viable response to cover their butts later when more of this crap comes out in the papers. The gave dateline the PR video because their lawyers were already well-trained to defend it.

Actually, it does. Since to a catholic, the concept of a holy trinity does indeed appear, and is therefore supported in scripture, a catholic could use the very words that 'non' has muttered, in a slightly modified form of course, to essentially say what 'non' has said. Which is, absolutely nothing of consequence.

Herein lies the problem. The 'official stated policy' says X,Y,Z. Anyone who deviates from that policy is not doing what they are supposed to be doing according to headquarters. Yet, the exact opposite of this 'policy' is encouraged verbally in the congregations from the top of the ladder, so that when the heat comes down, it only falls on the local elders, if anywhere at all.
This is why JR Brown was sent on a PR tape to dateline instead of interviewing on-camera. The WT/CCJW's knew that he would not have the time to consult lawyers and determine the proper 'neutral' way to react to the questions posed, so they instead fed dateline 'official stated policy' that their lawyers were already prepared to defend in any court of law.

Ah, so, something just does not "ring true". Would that be because the witnesses were put into a bad light? Of course. Had the reporter said something good about the witnesses, we would have heard either no gripe, or at most what a fine example a journalism the piece was. as of 1 pm today barb anderson was notified that she has been disfellowshipped in writing by the judicial committee in her congregation.
barb was df in absentia at a second hearing that was declared after she successfully defended herself against charges in the first hearing.

What is REALLY going to SUCK is if dateline doesn't mention that most of the participants in the segment were excommunicated from the 'church' and some of these witnesses watching actually believe that 'they will help this sister in her time of need'.

These 36,638 may or may not be of those "who have been prominent in Jehovah's organization" who succomed to child molesting among other things. Besides, even if the greater number of the other 36,638 were DF'd for practicing immorality, it doesn't say they were DF'd only for child molestation. The actual fraction they speak of could be much lower.
It is a very cleverly worded statement though. I made the mental mistake of linking 36,638 to CHILD MOLESTERS, which is inappropriate due to the wording of the paragraph.
I find it no coincidence that 'accuracy' has posted the above quote, with intentions no doubt less than honorable.
