outstanding !!!
... actually, connie was too nice to the jw leaders in her questions ... and i appreciate the two young ex-jw girls who connie interviewed ... they were straight forward, clear, and credible ... and they did a good job making the case ... and kudos to bill bowen for calling the watchtower's statement a bold-faced lie, because that is what it is ... the watchtower society clearly lied as to what they say their policy is, and what has been practiced in real life.
great job !!!
CoolBreeze, chill man. (sorry bad joke).
The swine in brooklyn don't have to worry 'bout this place, cause they're "Leavin' it to thuh lawyers".

"life on mars" mmm i wonder what jws would say on the matter, maybe adam and eve visited mars( just joking).anyway what do you think, will they find life on mars.
:: Even if you used the evolution theory which has never been proven fact, the conditions for spawning life would with out question have to be precise according to the evolution scientists like carl sagan that the chances of the ideal circumstances exsiting on mars just as on earth are so slim it is impossible to calculate.
FYI: I'm no harvard graduate, bust last time I looked, the observance of speciation in nature pretty much proved evolution as a fact. I personally observed that before anyone told me what evolution or speciation was. Now, before this discussion diminishes to the likeness of a Planet of The Apes fan flick, let me get to the point...
So, I take it you are *not* ready to hear that all life as we know it did not only originate from Earth. Hmm, I wonder what you would have said to the wright brothers in the early 1900s... Anyway, you don't HAVE to use the evolutionary theory to prove anything. All you have to do is look at the most hostile environments where life persists on this planet, and compare them to the tamer environments on Mars. See the overlap, and you might just find a niche. I understand your stance though. Nothing is wrong with a healty bit of skepticism.
:: So I will remain a total skeptic on the issue.I don't mind discussing the topic though, but don't piss on my foot and tell me it's raining.
I'm not pissing on your foot, you're just running from the martian water hose you silly person.
Crazy151drinker: I absolutely agree 100%. I also can't remember if it was Io or Europa myself.

:: but it would indeed be wonderful if they even found water...

Heh... With all of this hydrogen, there's probably a great deal of water under the surface, even if most is frozen.

heathen:
Interesting stance you have their re: your implicit confusion between abiogenesis and evolutionary theory.
*awaiting the technical retort to a bruised ego*
Now, when men travel to mars and *IF* they find "moss" on the rocks, will you then be convinced, or yet another sad sot who cannot deal with reality?
I'm ready to be told that it is indeed a dry dead planet (highly unlikely with present Oddessey and previous missions). Are *you* ready to hear that all life as we know it did not just originate from Earth?
would just like to say that i have spent hours reading material on this web site.
just would like to also say that i am still one of jehovah's witnesses.
if jehovah's witnesses are truly distructive and to familys as well then i would like to know please, how on earth is the association of brothers going to stay together, if it is really destructive?
:Simon: What do I get from running this site? (apart from a hole in my bank account)
A BIG FAT THANK YOU from a BIG FAT LURKER.
the dilemma facing apostate jehovahs witnesses, or apostate dubs, as i have dubbed them, (no pun intended) is the very fact of their seeming success.
one of the great ironies of the apostate movement, that presumptuously boasts of "know the truth about the truth," is that apostates themselves are bound by the watchtower's own interpretive shortcomings, and hence are massively ignorant of jehovahs judicial decisions regarding his organization.
in that the presumption in operation is that if enough scandal and error can be brought to light regarding the governing body, the watchtower society's teachings, as well as individual jehovah's witnesses, then that somehow means that jehovah's witnesses have no connection with jehovah god.
:YouKnow: Because what I write carries some weight with a few of you.
That's right. We hear your pain, and know that you, like so many people on this planet, need professional psycholigical counsel.
*((Big hug for Robert))*

i've done a quick version to watch in windows media player format .... http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/media.asp.
select the bbc programme from the drop-down list (it's in two parts).. the first programme starts at about 2 minutes (you get to see our weather report first) and has a good intro by the newsreader.. let me know if you have any problems ... i'll probably put a better quality version up when i have more time.
Ditto re: safe4kids.
Panorama was willing to tread where dateline would not. Excellent report.

i'll be speaking this week at a memorial service for my father, and would like to include passages from the bible which are uplifting and comforting, but which do not refer to god or jesus or have an overt religious message or overtone.
i would appreciate very much if members would suggest passages they believe would be appropriate.. joe.
Joseph:
No offense, but why don't you just say something uplifting/upbuilding WITHOUT including the Bible? What is so important about using it? Is it expected of you or something?
i found this while on a search and thought quite a few of you would be interested:.

i found it very interesting to say the least.
Oh brother. Now we get to hear Robert generalize.
