Jehovah's Witnesses and Tattoos
by NotFormer ini was wondering about the jw attitude towards getting tattoos.. redditors suggest that the only jws who have them would have got them before they were baptised.. jw.org gives a meally-mouthed "true christians wouldn't" response.. but no-one (that i've seen so far) answers the question i'm actually asking: is getting a tattoo after being baptised a disfellowshipping offence?.
if not disfellowshipable, how would a typical jw congregation treat someone who got a tattoo after baptism?
would they really treat it like it is a conscience issue?.

Smoking, abuse, adultery, tattoos, whatever, they don't care. The BOE around here don't care as long as the person worships the elders properly according to the JWBorg. It's like that Catholic Church "sale of indulgences" thing, except instead of cash it's payment of worshipful honor the BOE craves.
A congregation member can get arrested for domestic assault, get caught committing adultery, celebrating holidays, smoking, and still be in good standing in the congregation as long as they kowtow to the BOE.
Another congregation member can toe the line completely (no abuse, no adultery, no whatever) and get kicked out for not bowing down to the BOE.
The BOE around here don't really care about anything except getting worshipped. It's gross. The publications are for show. The website articles are for show. Right now they have articles on the front website page about Truth (but they don't care about truth) about Successful Families (but they break up families with disfellowshipping) and about Help for Victims Domestic Abuse (but they don't help them, they help the abusers and crush the victims). They are fakers. If they say they care about tattoos or no tattoos, it's just for show. They don't care about anything except getting worshipped.

Claiming to need "two witnesses" in order to protect children when there is CSA is not Bible truth.

I had tattoos on both arms and on my back when I became a JW. Nobody cared. (I'm almost 50 and I'm not into tattoos now, I wouldn't recommend it, but it was a novelty back when I was 18.)
My PIMI husband got a tattoo after being in the JWBorg fifteen years. (He already had a mess of them from before he came into the borg.) He had been an elder and a pioneer before getting this newest tattoo. The JWBorg elders didn't care. They don't care about him smoking either. If you're "in" with the local BOE, they don't care if you get a tattoo or smoke or get arrested for breaking the law, as long as you worship the elders in harmony with what is written in the "Organized" book.

Why EXJWs Don't Need to be afraid of the WTBT$ supposed "Hail"...
The WTBT$ misinterprets the "hail" plague mentioned in Revelation. They take it out of context, like they do with so many other things. The message of Revelation is a composite dream, just like these other dreams in the Bible...
...Joseph dreamed two dreams that meant the same thing, the sheaves bowing down and the sun moon and stars bowing down. (Genesis 37:5-11) They both foretold that Joseph would be a ruler in Egypt.
...Pharoah dreamed two dreams about the seven fat/skinny cows and the seven full/thin ears of grain. (Genesis 41) They both foretold seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine.
...Daniel has several chapters with visions of the progression of world powers told from slightly different angles, chapters 2, 7, 8, 11/12.
Revelation is the same way, dreams/visions to be understood by taking them together, not out of context.
The seven bowls of God's anger, the seven plagues, the seven trumpets, the seven seals...they all foretell God's judgment upon hypocritical religious institutions and then on the hypocritical governments. They are not separate events with individual plagues. They are representing that time of the great tribulation from slightly different angles.
The so-called "hailstone message" that the WTBT$ is talking about is non-existent. The "hail" in Revelation is part of the composite vision. The Bible explains itself regarding that "hail" that it is figurative and it is referring to the dissolution of religious institutions...
Isaiah 28:14-29
"So hear the word of Jehovah, you boasters,
You rulers of this people in Jerusalem,
For you men say: “We have made a covenant with Death,
And with the Grave we have made an agreement.
When the raging flash flood passes through,
It will not reach us,

The WTBT$ and other religious institutions think they will never be "touched" by demise ("I sit a queen, and I am not a widow, and I will never see mourning" Revelation 18:7) that they "have a covenant with Death" because of helping the UN with all their promotions but they are wrong. Their religious institutions will be dissolved by the governments of the world. It is by the word of Jehovah. The figurative hail will sweep away the refuge of lies. The plagues on ancient Egypt were to show up those gods as false. Pharaoh claimed to be a god, but the plagues showed he was not a god. The plagues of Revelation are figurative, they will also show up the "gods" of the religious institutions as false - "gods" like the "FDS" and the Pope and other clergy.
The "hail" is not a "preaching assignment". These plagues are judgments from heaven, from Jehovah Himself. Jehovah is showing up the hypocrisy of the religious institutions and the governments. The WTBT$ can't make "hail".
The "hail" is going to fall on the so-called "FDS" and the other religious hypocrites. You don't need to be part of the JWBorg to make Jehovah your refuge. Jehovah is sending the "plagues" so that we can be free of such tyranny.

I haven't said anything about numbers on this thread yet. I said that when a storm is near, you can tell it's near if you are awake. (If you're not awake, that caliber of storm will wake you when it begins anyway.)
The 3 1/2 years of the great tribulation don't start until the religious institutions are being dissolved. It won't be just the WTBT$, it was also be the Catholic Church and the other churches. It will be a process that takes several months. That is part of the timeline that is recorded in the Bible with "numbers". If you want to look up those scriptures, you can find them on this clip:
Although the Bible is clear that the great tribulation will be 3 1/2 years long and it is also clear about certain specific events that take place during that time, it does not tell us when that time of great tribulation begins. But you can see that the governments are about to dissolve religious institutions. You don't need some prophet to tell you that. Go research WTBT$ and Pennsylvania. Go research New Zealand and religion and abuse, or CSA in the Catholic Church.
The WTBT$ will be dissolved soon. So will the other religious institutions. That will signal the beginning of the 3 1/2 year tribulation Jesus foretold. The UN will have more power for three and a half years to try to rule the world without the interference of clergy and religious institutions. The UN will fail miserably. Then God's Kingdom will intervene and replace the UN and all the other governments.
These are not my "numbers". They are from God's Word.
