Social retards
by Simon ini've been thinking a lot recently about the interaction between people in the exjw community and it seem to me that the "jw experience" (sounds like a theme park ride doesn't it?
) polarises behavior somewhat between two extremes:.
we know in the jw scheme of things that friendships are very 'superficial'.

I didn't really have many dub friends . I did like, and still do like some of the people who are dubs, just not as "friends". I just think of the ones I do like as being in the "those are nice people" catagory.
I tell people that I am an ex-JW, however I wait until we have a good relationship going first
I took this approach once with a man I was dating. When I finally told him I was an ex-jw, his immediate reaction was: "You belonged to a cult and lied to me all this time! How could you hide something like that and expect me to trust you not to lie about other things?"
My reaction to his reaction: "SEEYA"

If only you just wouldn't CLAP so hard....
by PopeOfEruke inwhats with the jw's and that insane clapping that goes on at assemblies?
can you all remember it?
not just at the conclusion of a talk (which is somehow expected and simply courteous), but the intra-talk claps where sometimes no-one know if its a clap-moment or not..... so the speaker drones on and on, and then comes the voice inflection change, either louder ot higher-pitched, and then you know its coming: another clap-moment......*groan*.

We should have clap cards, like on the Tonight Show.

What sold you on the JW faith?
by MYOHNSEPH ini havent posted much here, but ive read a lot for about six months now.
although most everyone here appears to have had some degree of affiliation with the jw organization, the individual posters seem to be from pretty diverse backgrounds.
im really curious about something.

what was it that sold you on the JW faith?
I was born and raised in the truth but I had many friends that became dubs when they were adults. I had one friend in particular that had a sole reason for becoming a dub and it was the clincher for her. She was undecided right up until she discovered a scripture pointed out to her by her bible study. That if she took the plunge and remained faithful and turned in her time card, Jehovah would reward her with her every hearts desire. Her biggest desire is to be the most beautiful woman in the world and marry Brad Pitt. LOL Of course that would mean certin death for poor Jennifer.

Explain why there used to be dinosaurs and sabre-toothed tigers but that there are none now,
I would like to know why God made saber-toothed tigers. They couldn't possibly romp around with goats eating grass, could they? With those teeth? That must have been the biggest blood bath in history. shivers....me/

Are WE Going To War?
by Perry inare we going to war?
whom shall we fight?
living in a city with four military bases allows me to hear rumors through the grape vine about military involvement.

Hmmm...probably. If I were a gambler I would bet on yes. But then there is a good reason why I do not gamble.

Oh No, Not Again!
by Sentinel inlast night, around 8:30 (sat., 10/19), it appears the serial snipers struck again.. if you travel south on down route 95, past spotsylvania, where two shootings took place, you come to a small town called ashland, va. there is a pondersoa steak house right off the highway.
a 37 year old man was walking out with his female companion, and he was hit by a single bullet to the abdomen.
they closed off route 95 entirely.

Fruit Having Youth-sustaining Benefits!
by Yadirf inthis idea of mine, which i quote below, i think is sound.
i still stick to it because i think that it clears up a lot of confusion regarding *the two trees* and their purposes for being in the garden of eden: .
aside from the variety of other trees which jehovah provided for the daily needs of the first human pair, god had placed two especially necessary trees in the "middle of the garden.
