Do you remember the jw.org book of revelation and how many times we had to study it? In retrospect, all those hours turned out to be for nothing, the explanation of the prophecies is now completely outdated.

It is now 2003.... Where is Armageddon?
by Nosferatu ini find it extremely amusing how each year is passing without armageddon.
"for the year 2000, i visualize a world transformed into a beautiful paradise!
but i don't think that either the present world or its rulers will live to see that day.. we are living in the last days of the system of things.

I remember family discussions about 1975. Was a child. Then the discussions about Raymond Franz in the early 80's.
Time trends to fly.

Will God Spare China at Armagedon?
by eyeslice innot because they haven't been witnessed to but who is going to manufacture all the stuff for the survivors?
textiles and clothing, building materials, electrical components, air-conditioner for those living in the tropics and spacer heaters for those living in colder climes.
not to mention video equipment and computer tablets so that the survivors can watch the gb updates (though may they've gone to heaven but i'm sure there'll be plenty of the 'gb helpers', the next rank down, left).

New Convention Song “ It Will Not Be Late”
by BluesBrother inthis made me chuckle.
a new song that they are encouraged to practice for the convention.. “ we know your day will come, sure as the rising sun.
no matter how long it takes , it will not be late” …………... it is based on habakkuk 2 , we discussed this in depth around 1973/1974.

All the Old JW Acquaintances Passing Away
by StephaneLaliberte inyesterday, my dad told me an older sister passed away.
she wasn't too old (in her 60s), but i knew her 30 years ago and haven't seen her in 15 years; the main reason being that i faded 10 years ago.. yesterday, i seriously considered attending the funeral and catch-up with old jws i used to know.
after thinking it over, i decided against it.

I went recently to a funeral of an old JW friend. It was a good experience. Elders stayed away from me, but many conversations with old friends.

Just read that Carl Olof Jonsson died yesterday
by slimboyfat infor newbies, who was carl olof jonsson?
he was a jw in sweden who was challenged by a householder in the 1960s, who pointed out to him that secular history books don’t agree with watchtower that jerusalem was destroyed in 607 bce, but instead place the event 20 years later.
the reason the date is important is because it is the starting date for jw chronology which leads to 1914 as the end of the gentile times, and the beginning of the last days, as jws understand it.

It is not about the details, but the fact that COJ had a mindset of his own, and spoke out against an awfull system. That's what I respect so much.
