Balaamsass, you and your wife, 3rd Gen, should write a book! I would buy it.

Can someone remind me the reason's you could be disfellowshipped?
by SydBarrett inthe only reasons i can remember are smoking, sexual immorality and of course, apostasy.
there must be others but having been out since 1990, i'm drawing a blank.
i was thinking perhaps serious criminal offenses that result in prison, but then i remembered a brother in my congregation in the 1980's who went to prison.

Special Talk just prior to the Memorial
by Acluetofindtheuser inis the sunday special talk prior to the memorial just an introduction of a new outline for the sunday public talks?.
is it an attempt to get the faders back to the meetings?
they present in a way like some new light is going to be presented at the special talk..

Not former, I remember the SNL character, Dana Carvey, playing the church lady! So funny! And Balaamsass, I totally agree with you. I used to walk out of these “special” talks, wondering what was so special about it. Just more BS. 💩

What "message" does the J.W Org. have to offer that will attract new members ?
by Phizzy inthe message they have been pushing for 150 years or so is "the end is near !"..
in the educated, civilised world, people think " yea ?
maybe because of economic meltdown exacerbated by climate change, but not from some intervention by a non-existent god".. "would you like a free bible study ?

Vanderhoven, that is their teaching in a nutshell! Perhaps those at the carts could have your statement printed up on a card, to hand to passersby’s. 😂😂😂 JOIN OR DIE!

Inviting People to Meetings
by HereIam60 inthe current memorial invitation campaign got me thinking about the few times over the years that someone i invited to a meeting actually came: .
1) once when i was "new", i invited a friend to a sunday meeting.
neither of us drove, so the brother conducting my study picked us up.

I remember being at the Thursday night snooze fest when, to my surprise, a girl from my class showed up, with her mom. Her mom was studying. I spoke to her after the meeting, I was kind of happy to see her (because misery loves company). They came to only a few meetings, never saw them after that. The mom quit the study. 🤷♀️
I think I was in 5-6th grade then.

Damon Wayans witnesses in interview
by neat blue dog injws have been loving this & sharing on social media, millions of views in the last few days.
damon does have some light swearing here and there, but he claims to be a practicing jw and gives the whole witness theology about the signs of the last days & breaking down the words of the lord's prayer regarding god's will being done on earth.. starts at the 28:55 mark.

Good point, moonmanchu. What is a “practicing” JW? Versus a “non practicing” JW? Does that make me, who faded 40 years ago, a “non practicing” JW?
I suppose they could start using that term for those who drift away from the faith. 🤷♀️

Trump Tariffs started today, Some Countries Caved in early morning.
by liam inusa politicians in charge of the economy for the past 50 years were too stupid to understand how the economy works.
this just proves my theory, that an education on the top tier universities just sucks and means nothing in the real world, unless its in the stem education.
for 50 years usa had zero tariffs on other countries.

1/2 of the Jehovah’s witnesses have gone
by hoser inthere are 1/2 of the jehovah’s witnesses that there were 30 years ago in my area.
some have left but i think that many have died and none of their kids stayed being jehovah’s witnesses.
7 congregations have been dissolved over the years.

I’ve been on vacation this past week (AZ), and popped in here just now. This is such great news! I hope I live long enough to watch the last of it circle the drain…
On another note, as I passed through the Phoenix airport, I saw 3 different carts set up, with 2 at each cart. I had to pass quickly, no time for chit chat, I was with a family group. I did manage to let 2 of the carts know that they were in a cult, and they should go home, and enjoy the beautiful day. One of the carts had 2 travelers stopped there. I told them not to take any of that literature, because it was a cult. The traveler said, “No, it isn’t.” Then I realized this was other JWs from somewhere else, just saying hi to fellow cult members. As reported elsewhere, ABSOLUTELY NO ONE approaches these carts with any interest. Just fellow JWs. What a waste of time!
And, Wing Commander, I think I know one of those wealthy legacy families. I’m unsure of their son, though. His profile looks normal, and, since I lurked on his LinkedIn profile, he mentions where he attended college. But I suppose that a male in a legacy family can attend college without repercussions. 🤷♀️

I was going to write a new topic ... but now I just can't be bothered
by no-zombie ini was going to write a new topic but now i just can't be bothered ... and i'll tell you why.. on my facebook feed a few days ago, i saw an interview of a couple of onlyfans girls, who said that they were active christians that attended church weekly.
and while i was going to spend some time writing about the virtues of our faith's strict moral standards ... i now understand that i'd only be flamed as a watchtower apologist.. that being said, out of the approximately 4 million onlyfan girls out there ... it obvious, that none are jehovah's witnesses..

If Onlyfans was around when I was young, I would have made a fortune! 😔

Are There any JW Teaching that you DO Agree With?
by NotFormer in(apologies for the typo in the title.
"teaching" should read "teachings".
i misread vanderhoven7's most recent post as being the above.

I agree with this statement: The Governing Body is neither inspired nor infallible.
