Jan, LHG said that they used to approach people at the KH who had jobs. They had envelopes asking employed people to put cash into the envelopes for the pioneers, and other under employed witnesses. Not only cash, but rides, and other things like that.

What is the current Watchtower "rent charge per publisher" for Kingdom Halls in the USA???
by Balaamsass2 ini was following a few threads in reddit from current pimo jws complaining about local announcements regarding halls being short on their per publisher "rent payments".
third gen and i have been out pomo for a while...so how much is this charge now?
could this be part of the recent push to get people to "come back" or get re-instated...if it even is online and 15 minutes of service per month?

What are some of the more exceptional self-authenticating claims made by Jehovah’s Witnesses?
by Vanderhoven7 inlet's start the ball rolling with two connected claims.. the religion of jehovah’s witnesses is the one true religion.
all other religions are satanic, including all the churches of christendom..

Vander, can this Ian person PROVE that this organization was chosen by Jesus in 1918? Or, is this just a grandiose claim, with no proof?

exJW Psychology 102--How to Ask a Question When Questions Aren't Allowed
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite innow that enough time has passed and i've moved away, i think i'm overdue to share some of the stories from my fade.
i've mentioned some of this before, but i think it deserves its own thread.. we all would like to be able to freely ask questions about jw beliefs and get our family and friends to really think about certain questions.
however, when you're a baptized jw, you really can't ask any good questions or you'll get the "apostate" label slapped on you!

This thread is excellent! We should figure out questions to ask the ones at the carts. I doesn’t seem right to walk up to a cart to ask them about the kangaroos. But, there definitely is a way to talk to them to get them to think.

Telling People You Used To Be A JW
by JW_Rogue insince i faded i've told a few people at work about having been raised in this organization but i found that most people don't really get what it is like at all.
they just focus on not celebrating holidays as if that is the worst thing about growing up jw.
i didn't explain much because it's too much for most people to handle.

My daughter married into a family of Christians, they knew that I was raised JW, but they didn’t understand how it was, except the door to door stuff. So, I explained to them. They had no idea. They do now. They literally thought it was just another Christian group.

Examples of Watchtower flawed interpretation of Bible passages?
by Vanderhoven7 inasking jehovah’s witnesses to interpret specific passages is a great way to demonstrate their interpretive abuse.

My PIMI mother recently passed away. I gave her a witness funeral, as were her wishes. The brother who gave the funeral talk used Ecclesiastes 9:5, which says the dead have no conciousness. He, of course, used the NWT.
My Bible, The Living Bible, has a footnote for that scripture. It says, “this scripture reflects Solomon’s discourage opinion at the time. It does not reflect God’s truth on the matter.”

Vander, when I was a child, a sister at our hall died. She was supposedly one of the 144,000. My parents brought me to the wake. She was in the casket. On the way home, I asked why her body was in the casket, because didn’t her body fly up to heaven, since we (according to their teaching) don’t have souls.
They seemed a little panicked, then my mom said that, right before she died, Jehovah inserted a soul in her, so that she could get to heaven.
I knew that this was made up, and wasn’t in the Bible. One of many doubts I had as a child.

Don't you just love LITERATURE truths?
by BoogerMan inas jw's we swallowed such concoctions for years - without a single scripture provided as proof!.
w71 12/15 p. 759 - "apparently, the apostle peter was the chairman of the governing body on the festival day of pentecost of 33 c.e., and the disciple james, the half brother of jesus christ, was the chairman at a later date, according to the account in acts of apostles.
from this, and from what historical evidence there is available, the chairmanship of the governing body rotated.".

Reddit thread - ‘Organization Finally Suggesting to Plan for Retirement’
by LongHairGal inthis information is supposed to be in the upcoming march wt.
(i don’t go on jw dot org).
it would sound like they are hinting at a change in thinking.. in my opinion, any such change would be yet another slap in the face to faithful pimis along with those other recent changes.. there are so many heartfelt responses on that thread and a lot of justified anger.. don’t know what to say except that i’m so glad i never listened to the religion all those years ago.

Something funny I found, I’m going through my mother’s things, she recently passed away. I found a notebook, she took notes in from meetings and assemblies. It says, “If your job causes you to miss meetings or field service, quit”. 🤨
