I don’t want to say specifically, it may out me. But, I work my ass off, but I make pretty good money for someone with no college. I earn every penny. I retire in 2024.

So telling that there are no little children
by eyeslice inwatching in on my wife's zoom meeting last night, there was an item about discipline is love.
they played a 'caleb' animated cartoon and then the instructions were 'if possible, ask selected young children' several questions.. it seems however, that there are no children in my wife's current congregation so the questions were all answered by retired brothers and sisters.
the congregation mainly consists of elderly people (like us) and the few of childbearing age seem not interested in having children.

Dropoffyourkeylee, you are right about churches with real programs for teens. My daughter was in one, every Friday night, they got together with a married couple who ran the teen program together. They even went on several mission trips, twice to New Orleans to help with Katrina clean up, and once to Ecuador, to work with orphans. My daughter got so close to this couple, they asked the husband to officiate at her wedding. (He did). Many of those teens are still friends, still Christians, one is a high school science teacher, one is an M.D.

Where there any cases where members should not have been at the meeting but still managed to attend?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inno matter if you are tired, sick, worked late, trudging through heavy snow, or any other reason, you were never to miss the meetings.
missing meetings is frowned upon.. i once went to a 2 day assembly with 2 wisdom teeth pulled the day before.
my gums were still bleeding.

I went to a wedding of 2 Uber dubs on Saturday, they were at the Sunday meeting the next day. Even the elders looked shocked.

DISFELLOWSHIPPING, How bad is it really?
by pistolpete ini found this experience on reddit today.
disfellowshipping never really bothered me.
i always thought it was just another way of getting rid of members that weren't welcome anymore.. but i've changed my mind.

When the Catholic Church excommunicates someone, they are not supposed to take communion. They don’t tell the other parishioners to shun them. JW’s are a cult, pure and simple.
