Has anyone read the book, entitled Heaven is for Real? It’s about a boy named Colton Burpo, who died at age 4, due to a burst appendix. He was dead for about 4 or 5 minutes. When he was revived by the doctors, they claimed it was a miracle. His dad was fervently praying for him at that time, and Jesus told him he had to go back. Over a period of time, his parents realized he had truly been in heaven. For instance, his mother had a miscarriage before he was born. They never mentioned this event to him, yet he told his parents he had met her there. Quite an interesting read.

Investment departments in Bethel
by Mikejw ini was a bethelite in london for many years then got reassigned to the field and then went on brd from the start of chelmsford right upto covid.. during my years at the branch i was sometimes asked to be on a team who went to homes donated to the branch when some older one died.. this happenes an awful lot, everything is left to the branch in the will.
the unbelieving family is furious they didn’t get left anything and sometimes they tried to get their elderly relatives possessions and there was a legal battle .
but in the end a team of us would go and empty the property and another team would clean it up and put it on the market to sell it for the worldwide work.. all the possessions were sorted into trash or possibly valuable .

Could this be true about Smurf girl? God, I knew she suffered much being in the WT, but this seems beyond the pale. Can anyone corroborate her story?

My grandfather, born in Norway, came here at age 3, with his family. He was born in 1898. I still remember him, love him, and miss him.

making out like a bandit
by enoughisenough inhere is a practice i only recently learned about and am actually interested in learning more details...some of you may have experience on the subject.
i always thought it marvelous, loving, and kind how the brothers would go in ( at their own expense) after disasters and repair homes of the witnesses who had been adversely effected.
i personally have worked freely helping to clean and repair after flooding.

Yes, the rank and file witnesses did the hard work repairing homes, and the WT society reaped the rewards collecting the insurance checks that the recipients were “encouraged “ to donate to them. They want your money, and NO ACCOUNTABILITY as to how they spend it, aka the WWW.

Money donated for a specific reason
by enoughisenough ini decided to do this posting because of some comments in the post about pensions.
in the mid to late 1980's there was a flood and the local kingom hall was damaged and many of the friends homes were damaged...groups came in to help repair.
my then mother-in-law literally lost everything-she had no home to repair...she had been renting a small trailer and it washed away.

In my mom’s congregation, a sister told her that she heard a family in the congregation didn’t have enough money for food. She gave them $300.00. She expected them to buy groceries. She later found out that they used that money to eat out at a lavish restaurant. 😏

Elders won't tell you who have falsely accused you
by enoughisenough inhaving been a victim of this practice twice, i thought i would see if others had the same experience.
on one occassion, i was before the elders being told i was drunk on a certain day at a certain time.
( this was only brought up because when i was pushing for a meeting because of elder mr x adultery , i was threatened somethings would be brought out about me if i persued the meeting.

That happened to me also! When I brought up Matthew 18, they responded that the individual “didn’t feel comfortable “ speaking to me. I then said, Ok, we’re done here then.” I just walked out. The elders mouths hung open lol. Asshats. Truly a kangaroo court. Not true Christians.
