  going past a 'new-age' shop today i stupidly said to my most 'uber' wife, do you want a reading?

  " ..not a good idea.. oh dear.. she opened up correcting my every other word and brought in a stream of jw speak and now many hours later is still steaming under an acute cloud of sol.. oh god keep me from being so stupid; cut out my tongue, glue my teeth together.

  I was there, they definitely said 1975 was it, I was 16 years old in 1975. I expected to DIE, because I knew Jehovah could read my mind and know I didn't want to be a witness. In 1976, I had a talk with my elder dad, i told him they were false prophets, he said they just "made a mistake."

  so i had a chat with a pimo elder who lives down in georgia usa.

  he said meeting with the co included direction for at least 12 congregations to be evaluated for dissolution in the near future.

  i thought the bible thumping southern us was a jw hot spot?

  Can someone help me figure out something, dealing with paganism?

  the watchtower and quite a few other religious groups don't do certain things because of pagan origins.

  they go on about the different holidays, certain traditions, and say they don't do those things because of pagan origins.

  yet they turn right around and do other stuff, which does have pagan origins.

  I showed my grown, university educated daughter, a watchtower magazine with an article called "Christmas-Is it for Christians?" She had it completely debunked in under 5 minutes. Basically, the article said if it's not in the bible we shouldn't do it. She said if you apply that logic to everything, we wouldn't drive cars, watch tv, got to movies, fly in airplanes, etc. because none of those things are in the bible either.

  How do you feel about your JW childhood?

  i was 5 years old when my mother was baptised.

  we went from celebrating xmas to no presents or decorations.

  we would still go to my unbelieving aunty's house on xmas day, all of my cousins would be playing with their new toys and would wonder why i didn't have any.

  I was born in, never had holidays or birthdays either. It sucked! I so much wanted to fit in, and never did. Not just holidays, but I hated not saying the pledge of allegiance, it is said daily in American classrooms. I felt like a fool and outcast every day.

  I was brought up from infancy from this crap. I always hated it, it never sat right with me. Unfortunately I was born with critical thinking skills, so most elders hated me, I always thought tney wanted me out.

  I Got Very Stange JW Doorknocker Yesterday

  i had an ex-jw uncle of mine visiting me yesterday from another part of the country.

  i usually only ever see him at weddings and funerals but we keep in touch on facebook.

  we were catching up in my place with his wife when about an hour into the visit there's a knock on my door, this was about 4pm.. strange... the only people who ever knock without calling me first are the postman and my ex-wife.. i open the door and it's a face i recognize from my last congregation.

  Since the watchtower always talked about not having careers or having fame, etc, I had the elders come talk with my (ex) husband about sticking with his job till the new system. These assholes told me I was wrong and a man could choose how to make a living. He wanted to be a "rock star" and I wwanted him to keep his union job. Those elders betrayed me completely. I ended up getting a divorce because the "rock star" was cheating. That was not the life I signed up for! Thankfully, I escaped the J W religion and moved on. 35 years ago. I'm married to my second "worldly husband" 29 years now.
