*** g90 11/8 20 Part 7: A Political Search for Utopia ***
"Does this perhaps support the theory that early Christians were themselves communists, practicing a type of Christian socialism? Some people make this claim, pointing to Acts 4:32, which says of Christians in Jerusalem: "They had all things in common." Investigation reveals, however, that this was just a temporary arrangement brought on by unforeseen circumstances, not a permanent system of "Christian" socialism. Because they shared material goods in a loving way, "there was not one in need among them." Yes, "distribution would be made to each one, just as he would have the need."-Acts 4:34, 35."
>>Temporary arrangement?? Hey! Sorta like the circumcision issue huh?!?!

*** w58 8/1 460 Dawns a New Era for the Irish ***
"Fear has a great hold on the people. People are afraid of what their neighbours, their friends, relatives and clergy might think if they were even so much as to read the Bible on their own. For centuries the clergy have dominated their lives, told them what they can read, what they should believe and do. To ask a sound religious question is a demonstration of lack of faith in God and the church, according to the clergy. As a result, the Irish people do very little independent thinking. They are victims of the clergy and fear; but freedom is in sight."

*** w61 8/15 503 "From House to House" ***
"Will anyone endeavour to argue that all these Greek grammarians, these Bible translators and this historian were one and all biased because they themselves were doing evangelistic work from house to house? Hardly! Then neither can anyone rightly claim that the way the New World Translation reads at Acts 20:20 is due to the fact that the witnesses of Jehovah engage in house-to-house ministerial work. However, if any still want to take exception to the expression, then they are entitled to the secondary reading that is given in the footnote of Acts 20:20, which reads, "or, 'and in the private houses.'"
>>IN the private houses?? What part of "IN" don't you understand??
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
*** w52 6/1 324 Ministers of Good News at Your Door ***
"So it would appear that house-to-house work was meant again when, following the outpouring of the holy spirit at the feast of Pentecost, A.D. 33, the disciples were described "continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house". (Acts 2:46) Certainly we know that Jesus' followers expanded the private home ministry to marvellous limits after his death and resurrection. Despite warning from the authorities to cease, "every day in the temple and from house to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news about the Christ, Jesus." (Acts 5:42, NW) Paul tells how anxious he was to discharge his apostleship in a thorough manner. Note the means he used to ensure this: "I did not hold back from telling you any of the things that were profitable nor from teaching you publicly and from house to house."-Acts 20:20, NW.
How natural in view of all this that, with the immense task of preaching the good news of the Kingdom throughout the earth in this complex modern world, Jehovah's organization should lean so heavily on the age-old Scriptural door-to-door ministry! Difficult as the task is even with this help, it would be impossible without it. Still there are problems to be overcome in doing this work effectively. Just how we will now consider."
>>Is the "house-to-house" ministry public or private??

Lyrics: Heaven - Live
You don't need no friends
get back your faith again
you have the power to believe
another dissident
take back your evidence
it has no power to decieve
I'll believe it when I see it, for myself
I don't need no one to tell me about heaven
I look at my daughter, and I believe.
I don't need no proof when it comes to God and truth
I can see the sunset and I perceive
I sit with them all night
everything they say is right
but in the morning they were wrong
I'll be right by your side
come hell or water high
down any road you choose to roam
I'll believe it when I see it for myself
I don't need no one to tell me about heaven
I look at my daughter, and I believe.
I don't need no proof when it comes to God and truth
I can see the sunset and I perceive, yeah
darling, I believe, Oh Lord
sometimes it's hard to breathe, Lord
at the bottom of the sea, yeah yeah
I'll believe it when I see it for myself
I don't need no one to tell me about heaven
I look at my daughter, and I believe.
I don't need no proof when it comes to God and truth
I can see the sunset and I perceive
I don't need no one to tell me about heaven
I look at my daughter, and I believe.
I don't need no proof when it comes to God and truth
I can see the sunset
I can see the sunset
I can see the sunset
I don't need no one
Ohhhh
I don't need no one
I don't need no one
I don't need no one
To tell me about heaven
I believe
I believe it, yeah

i've heard a couple of times were jw's have befriended old people (particularly one's that live by themselves) and get them to a) join up or b) become good friends with them.
after being friends for a while the jw's 'suggest', 'coax' etc, to the old timer to put them down (the jw's) on their will.

BUT!
To get reinstated I have to send a apology (yes, an apology!) to my former congregation and ask them to give me the OK for me to get reinstated to my local one.
What do you all think about that?? A tad legalistic?
And don't worry i'm not going back OK. (But then again my local cong has got a lot of decent young sisters).............
Message to Uncle Bruce: You father-in-law has lost his marbles!!.......he was giving a talk on Acts 5:42, Acts 20:20 (I think!)..(House 2 House texts)..........I almost cracked up when he keep saying the word "distributive" in his talk.
