Nothing wrong in voting on questions like these, my friend - taking part in political elections, choosing between different political parties, is something different.
Being a member of Greenpeace, SeaSheperd etc., nobody ever raised an eyebrow

Honest question for active JW's.
by nicolaou incould you explain in a simple and concise way the differences between the 'faithful and discreet slave', the 'remnant', the 'anointed' and the 'governing body' as they exist at present?.
there's a reason for asking but we'll get to that later.. .
nic'.

Gullible as I am and obvioiusly stepping into some deep mire or pit you want me to get stuck into, I would say that the Anointed are the 144,000; there Remnant those of the Anointed who are alive today; the Faithful and Descrete Slave the individuals among these in their capacity of teaching or instructing, so that various individuals of the Anointed/Remnant serve as the Slave at different times (with another tongue than English, blurred wording is not due to blurred thinking, but to language problems .....) - one could substitute Anointed/Remnant with Slave, but I would use Slave when thinking of the teaching activity; and finally the Governing Body as more or less an administrative unit representing this group.

Are "YOU" this happy ????
by ladonna inteeheee....... anyone recognize the total happiness pictured here????.
remember how happy we are all supposed to be????.
here is a reminder!!!
-
TheOldHippie
Considering the picture is meant to illustrate the happiness felt AFTER the resurrection has begun taking place, I guess the question whether one has ever been that happy, is rather irrelevant. Perhaps one should try to find out exactly what one is trying to mock, before one tries to do so .........

Why Mainstreaming Will Win and Reform Won't
by metatron insometimes change takes place over many years, in such a subtle.
and quiet way that those involved may not even discern that a. trend is forming.
as with social security and retirement issues,.

I think you must have misunderstood about voting, cornish. Voting in unpolitical matters is one thing, voting in general elections etc. is something way different!

McVeigh vs Death Penalty
by Amazing ini am a policitcal conservative, at least a fiscal conservative and sociel moderate.
i support the death penalty, but i agree that our judicial system needs to overhaul how wwe treat criminals to achieve better rehabilitation results.
and of course, withhold the death penalty in cases where there could be doubt.. in mcveigh's case, i believe that he deserves the death penalty.

Dear JanH,
I very, very rarely agree with you on something, but finally I can! Death penalty places the USA among the terrorist nations of the world, as Iran, Iraq, China etc. Murdering mentally retarded, youths, and above all blacks and Hispanics clearly shows the sickness of that nation.
In order to join the European Council, the nation has to abolish death penalty, and even Russia did this a couple of years ago. Abolishing death penalty is what is here regarded as one point showing the nation is a rather civilized one.
The circus surrounding the murdering of poor Timothy McVeigh made me sick. -

Don't quite get it - why go thru that bit of so-called "trouble" if one does not believe in it? Wouldn't that be just about the nicest example of hypocrisy ever watched?

Elder's Manual Here

To SIMON:
The burglary you refer to, took place in Denmark, and was at the Branch Office, not a Kingdom Hall.
To ENGLISHMAN:
There is a vast difference between having a LIST of disfellowedshipped persons, and gathering INFORMATION on these. We choose not to have a list, whereas others may choose to have one; it is like a list of former members of a sports club or something - but nowhere is information on these collected.
They are visisted once every year or second year in order to find out if they have a wish to join the congregation again. -

Englishman referred to Simon and quoted:
"In Norway (where I live) they have been allowed to collect information about «disfellowshipped» members. Any kind of information. Who you sleep with, have slept with, how much you drink, with whom, etc. But they are NOT allowed to collect information on existing members."
Sorry to say this, but this is another one of Kent's lies. We are not allowed to have any lists or files, and of course not personal information as stated, on any people, active or inactive. Both the national laws and the regulations by the Society forbid us this. When once a year we discuss whom of the disfellowedshipped we are to pay our annual visit, the names of them have to be drawn up from the memories of us present, and not from any mysterious files or lists.
So please, it is just not true. -

Witnesses.net's and (a couple of years ago) Hourglass2's The Old Hippie modestly says "Hello" and enters if not the building then at least the area.
Live in Europe, am - (I am sorry to say) - a countryman of the Unholy Trinity consisting of Kent, Jan H. and Norm, and thus well updated with the practises of the Observer-thing. Do not support the majority of what they think or do. But I do not support the killing of whales or wolves which other of my countrymen do, either.
Have been a Witness for 26 years, ever since that memorable year of '75. Have been an elder for 23 years, and still am. Have been a regular pioneer and was appointed a special pioneer, but then children started coming.
Have a son who is a drug addict since 7 years ago. Have a daughter who was dispellowshipped last year. Have two small girls, who are the shining stars of ours. Have a horse, a dog, a guineapig, a rabbit and a gold fish.
Have no problems with the theology of ours, and no problems with World War II.
But have problems/questions as to other topics, where I wonder about our interpretation, topics as Noah's Flood, things in the Creation/Evolution/dating (chronology)-area, 607/587, mornings and evenings and days and nights and cups of anger being poured out, Pyramids and Symbols and certain things as to the Judge.
The Old Hippie - because that's what I was for 6-7 years, smoking all kinds of weeds, eating all kinds of pills and shooting all kinds of powder. And was a tough Communist, Maoist, smashed windows of the US embassy at some occations; therefore had a hard time accepting that the Witnesses originated in the US.
OK, anyway, I am here - perhaps to stay. So, "Hello, everybody!"
