  Crazguy, they are not counted twice. A publisher is a publisher whether he is baptized or not, so the number of baptized is not added to the number of publishers but is included in it. Death rate is one per cent no matter the life span, those are two different mechanisms.

  I think you have misunderstood a bit. Babylon the Great is said to fall at the beginning of the Great Tribulation, in other words a future event.

  The 1919 fall was that it lost its power over the preaching capacity of the JWs. It had no power over them thereafter in the sense of being able to prevent the preaching. So bans cannot prevent, because preaching is then done underground.

  Pity they couldn't count up between 32 & 35 - then they could've got the chapters of the Bible book of Numbers in sequence in their updated, inaccurate/corrupted "silver sword" translation. (see chapter headings on pages 266 & 267)

  Could you please tell me what you mean? It seems to be correct in my Bible.

  world population growth rate is 1.13%, whilst jehovah's witness average publishers grew by 1.8%.

  watchtower growth is outpacing population growth, though at a dismal rate considering the 2 billion hours of preaching required for an increase of just 115,194. this is an aggregate number, and most growth is from developing nations in africa and south america.

  what i was really interested in finding is how watchtower growth compares to the population growth in different countries.

  One thing which makes country-to-country comparisons "not so useful", is the huge amount of migration. Eastern Europe is "emptied" of carpenters, painters etc. because so many have migrated to Western Europe where the money is, and in some Western European countries Polish JWs make up 10 % or so of the total number. And then you have the opposite migration - if you see pictures taken from the witnessing work in some South Amercan amd African or Asian countries, you will se a large number of European or USA witnesses among them.

  So countries are not that interesting to compare as earlier; foreign language congregations and groups should be considered in addition. And there are other factors such as death rate etc. A complex field, really.

  the original aim of ct russell in starting the watchtower magazine in 1879 was to announce to the world his pet idea that jesus had come to rule in the heavens five years earlier back in 1874. for the young entrepreneur this new magazine looked like a commercial runner and it was!.

  most of us know how profoundly false the prophecy was but if you don't mind i'll give a brief overview for newbies:.

  1874 was the failed adventist prediction year for the return of christ in the heavenly glory, which russell was now saying was the right year after all.
