Actually, I think the WT simplified version started in January this year.

Simplified literature?
by irondork ini've been seeing comments made about this but have not really paid much attention.
when did this program begin?.
i wish i could have been there to hear how the convention speaker presented a dumbed-down version of the watchtower to an arena full of people who have been discouraged from education in the first place.. .

Calling parents of an autistic child dumb ass and being advised by posters to file a complaint with the police because the autistic child acts as an autistic - yeah! lots of wise talk and opinions going on here.

Some JWs are exhibiting signs of violence because of WT hate speech. Read the threat to me and others posted at Topix yesterday
by AndersonsInfo inyesterday, i opened a topix account so i could post the information about watch tower representatives attending the political ocse meeting in poland for two weeks and the proof that they are an ngo.
one of the posters responded with these words: .
"barbs-info," eh?

The only one being far off, ziddina, is you, as you so 100% failed to see what I was trying to say. I am aware of the fact that English is not my native language, and so I at times might fail to make myself clear, but I think you must have read quite another message than the one I was writing. But, again, it just proves my point, that name-calling and threatening is OK as long as it goes in the direction you support - but oh my God! if it goes in the other direction. It ain't easy to keep two thoughts in the mind at the same time, ziddina, but you should try it sometime - you might find it refreshingly new.

Not quite up to date if the author believes the WT still holds on to the 1914-generation teaching.

Now, first of all, JWs and their friends should not threaten people. Let me say that as a start.
But - if you have a look at posts here - and elsewhere - how many of them do not have in them the constant name-calling of the JW bastards, idiots, suckers, morons, good-for-nothings etc.? So there is this constants escallating way of talking about other people. Although those critizised and name-called in such a way OUGHT NOT respond in like manners, one should not be too upset or shocked if they do.
I fail to be shocked. But I think each and every one should mind his/her own language. It is not necessary to always speak in capital letters.

EXCLUSIVE NEW LIGHT! How to calculate the length of the overlapping generations - SCRIPTURALLY!
by agonus inok, so the one scripture that supports the "overlapping generations" doctrine is the one about joseph having brothers, right?.
well, then, logically, if that scripture buttresses the glorious new light - and we know how long that "generation" was - we should be able to calculate the date for armageddon, no?.
allowing for a maximum period starting with the year of the birth of the eldest brother (reuben if i'm not mistaken), and ending with the year of the death of the youngest (benjamin, correct?

One person, born in 1914 [WTS "babies born at the start of WW1"] and latter becomes part of the 144,000 meets a baby one day before he dies at the age of 101. That baby grows up and becomes part of the 144,000 and then lives to be 101. The WTS bought themselves more than 100 years with the "new light".
::::::::::::::::::::::::
No. According to the teaching, they must have been active or worked as or how you put it, remnant members for a time together, been co-working. And person 1 could not have been born in 1914, but was already a remnant member in 1914, understanding what was happening back then. Say he was born in 1880. He died in 1970 or so. At that time, person 2 must have been active as a remnant member. Born perhaps in 1940 or perhaps as late as 1950. So 100 new years are not bought, but 10-20 at the most.

Confusing messages at DC
by Kensho inokay i know everyone has probably already attended the dc and have posted their experiences here, but i just went to fri. and sat.
session (with a drama although timely for families i thought would never end) and a couple of bizarre things stood out.. very poor attempt at explaining the overlapping gen. new light.
during the brother's talk he said" there are two phases to the overlapping generations".

"Excuse me isn't one of the GB just in his mid 50's? Not one script. Sited other than Matt. 24 :34
I guess this buys the org. another 30-40 yrs."
No it does not, because the new GB members or new remnant members do not count towards the overlapping generation teaching. A person in his 20s today claiming to be a remnant member, was not so during the lifetime of the 1914-members and so does not count. Not many new years have thus been bought.

I think you should blame it on uncertain or "we must follow the ordinary pattern no matter what" - people and not generalize. I have experienced exactly the oppsite - meetings being cancelled because of illness or death or accidents etc. Some places the atmosphere is not as it should be.

Albert Schroeder and Sputnik
by xelder inas i read the ray franz books a couple years ago, he mentioned several things that i had personal knowledge of.
this really gave a ring of truth to everything he wrote, even if there were some things that couldn't be verified.
one thing was the idea that some of the gb thought sputnik was a signicant event marking the last days.

"The "ROARING of the sea and its agitation" was applied to the nuclear submarines and their missiles."
It was. I sorely miss the world as it was up to the late 1980s, everything fitted so neatly back then, King of the North vs King of the South, arms race, threat of nuclear bombs, spaceships and submarines. Now all we've got is uncertainly and grim-looking Moslems. I miss the Reagan/Nixon vs Mao/Brezhnew era.
