Did judge Rutherford piss off Hitler
by greenhornet inthe jws at the time in germany where considered part of the aryan race, (since they were not jews).
then things changed for the jws after rutherford mailed a letter to hitler bragging about jehovahs kingdom on earth.. so can we add this to the bloodshed that that the watchtower corp is responsible for?.

In stead of reading the summaries some here give - good, but still nothing but summaries - why don't you read Garbe? It's all there. Thick as a brick, but a truly great history of JWs and WWII. The pre-Hitler persecution, early Hitler acts, Rutherford's attempts at coming to terms, Balzereit, conventions, campaigns, internal strife within the camps, factions among the JWs - it's all there. So summaries here are nothing "new", nothing that is "hidden from the JWs", "shocking news" or anything like that. Read Garbe - or a couple of the other good German historians for that matter. Good books. And nothing neither a JW or an ex-JW should be afraid of. Just plain good old-fashioned research with all the pro's and con's, all the successes and setbacks. -

Book Burning and other burning of materials done by JW. Any experiences Please post
by adjusted knowledge inas a very young child i have memories of several book burnings done by jw families.
it wasn't something arranged by the congregation, but elders did participate in it.
it was actually scary for me as a child of only about 8 years old.

Stupid post. Burning books? Yeah, sure. The only book burning that took place, was the Nazis burning JW books back in the 30's.
Burning books? Man, what topic!

But is it the future of religion, religious feelings, or the future of organized religion, of organizations? -

Divine Name in the First Century
by freemindfade induring the watchtower today while there was so much pontificating on the first century christian movement, i was wondering what would happen i asked your run of the mill r&f how paul and others would have been pronouncing the divine name?....
yes god's name, something witnesses claim was so critical.
but the absolute fact of the matter is that no christian was saying the name jehovah at all, period.

"Nobody ever said "Jehovah" before 1300 CE. "... "So I think that is a fun question for " you, and "then I would say, are you sure?...."
Are you?

Today's WT
by OneFingerSalute inso today's wt seems to put out the idea that during early christian times it was god's hand that made the romans build roads, have strong laws, etc.
to make the preaching easier.. anyone else notice that?
some here really banged on about how great it was that god did that, just for them.

Actually, it was one of the Church Fathers who speculated on this, quote
"Expressing his viewpoint, third century theologian Origen wrote: “It would have hindered Jesus’ teaching
from being spread through the whole world if there had been many kingdoms . . . because men everywhere would have been compelled to do military service and to fight in defence of their own land. . . . Accordingly, how could this teaching, which preaches peace and does not even allow men to take vengeance on their enemies, have had any success unless the international situation had everywhere been changed and a milder spirit prevailed at the advent of Jesus?”and the article said it was a possibility. So blame it on the Church Fathers.

"It seems that all the choice they give the people in the USA is whether the chief spokesperson for the country is moderately conservative or liberal."
Or seen from a European persepective: "whether the chief spokesperson for the country is extremely conservative or ultra-conservative."

"In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth . ."
by nicolaou inso where did god exist before he created the heavens?
-
TheOldHippie
Since He is a spirit being, He exists "nowhere", He exists outside of the psysical realm. Time began existing only when matter came into existence, so talking about Him existing countless of millions of years before the Universe came into existence, is nonsense - before the Universe, before matter, there was no time. Einstein for dummies. -

Why on Earth this frenzy? It is just the annual zone servant visit! He had visited for decades, various congregations have been invited, but now it is aired. No fuzz at all!
