An elder, Chief MD in Honolulu clinic goes door to door. Testimony given at JW convention
by AndersonsInfo inhttp://www.pressreader.com/usa/honolulu-star-advertiser/20150725/281848642300889/textview.
it sounds to me like he was a jw before he became a physician.
"kalauawa, who became a jw 31 years ago, said he had to overcome a major conflict between his religious and professional beliefs, because jws are opposed to blood transfusions.

I was appointed servant and later elder while attending university. Couple of years ago, another one was appointed elder while taking specialized advanced courses following his university degree. So it differs from country to country. -

The Devouring Mother Archetype(jungian) And the Watchtower Corporation's Self Identification As Mother And Jehovah As Father
by Brokeback Watchtower inthe devouring mother must be always listen to and obeyed it is the negative side of the anima image and it rules over the watchtower corporation.
jehovah(corporation's imaginary sock puppet) is the father figure with his masculine macho swagger he gains victory over every detractor and his huge narcissistic personality demands exclusive devotion from everyone or it's the death penalty, he suffers from an inflated ego and has a very dark and evil shadow due to denial of his dark nature/satan(scape goat).
the children or rank and file pee on dedicated members of the corporation must now engage in worthless pursuits to satisfy a mood swinging domineering mother and a murderous self righteous father all the while being shown a very contemptible form of conditional love, accompanied with constant death threat reminders and a carrot on a sting to keep them focused on such and busy with worthless pursuits for a hopeless cause.

"Although, Jung’s work has made some contributions to mainstream psychology, generally modern psychologists do not employ his ideas into their theories of personality and mind. In particular, they do not give much credence to his theory of archetypes.
Ernest Jones (Freud’s biographer) wrote that Jung “descended into a pseudo-philosophy out of which he never emerged” and to many his ideas look more like New Age mystical speculation than a scientific contribution to psychology. ""some contributions", Oubliette? He is THE contributor; the field would be next to nothing without him. Of course Jones wishes to downplay him, what else can you expect from Freud's biographer? Jung stripped Freud of most of his glory and showed him as the victim of his own grandeur personality cult.
Jung has got it all, Oubliette, whereas Freud only has got his cigar. Which he never could quit.

WT answer to the question: Who made Jehovah's dwelling place?
by NCC-1701 inbefore i pose my question, please correct me if my understanding on any of these points on wt beliefs are incorrect.. 1. jehovah god alone has existed from eternity.
he used no pre-existent material to form anything.. 2. jehovah has a literal dwelling place, albeit not made from anything from, and not contained within, creation itself.
3. jehovah god, alone, created jesus at some point before the creation of everything else.

What are you gonna do when the existence of god is disproved?
by Doltologist inin 1897, j.j. thomson discovered the electron.
this was the first constituent part of the atom which, for 2,000 years, was thought to be indivisible.
today, we know of 18 elemental particles following the recent discovery of the higgs boson, the so-called god particle.. back in 1897, most people believed in god because there weren't even any theories as to how the universe came into being.

However, within the next 20 years, we will know enough about the universe to realise that it was probably a case of man inventing god, rather than the other way round.
With the discoveries in the field of molecular machines etc., God is a far more probable reality than He was before those startling discoveries were made.

Newspaper article: 'Rise of ISIS and earthquakes are WARNINGS before ARMAGEDDON destroys Earth'
by AndersonsInfo inhttp://www.express.co.uk/news/nature/581439/rise-isis-earthquakes-warnings-before-armageddon-apocalypse-end-destroys-volcanoes-earth.
the "end" of mankind, which has been long predicted by jehovah's witnesses, could happen as soon as this year - according to latest announcement from the christian religion.. in the latest edition of jehovah's witnesses monthly publication watchtower, an article translated into 700 languages - urges people to join the religion or face certain death when god sends his forces from the heavens to "remove all world leaders," "exterminate his enemies" and "rid the world of satan".. critics have lambasted the warning of a coming armageddon as yet another "failed prediction" by the religion, which has previously delivered similar alerts such as a foretold apocalypse in 1975.. indeed, jehovah's witnesses have been warning people of the need to recognise jehovah or face certain death when the "end" comes for more than 100 years.. the christian-based religion was founded in the 1870s by charles taze russell in pittsburgh, pennsylvania, us, as an offshoot from the bible studies movement.. today, there are 8.2million jehovah's witness evangelists, while 19.9 million celebrated their annual memorial festival marking christ's death - worldwide in 2014.. followers do not believe in military service and will not accept blood transfusions.. in a new eight-page article, watchtower said jehovah's witness leaders are now "convinced" humans are in their "final days" before the armageddon.. they cite an increase in global armed conflict, such as the rise of the islamic state terror group, as well as natural disasters such as volcanoes and earthquakes.. the lengthy article, written by an unnamed author, said: "will god let humans continue to dominate one another and threaten the future of mankind?
no, as we have seen, he will step in and bring an end to centuries of misery and oppression.

"A spokesman for website jwfacts.com said: "One of the most misleading statements in Watchtower publications is that they accurately foretold 1914 to be the 'start' of the conclusion of this system of things."Rather, 1914 was predicted to be the 'End' of the system of things, the conclusion of Armageddon and the start of the Earthly paradise.""
I don't think that is correct. As far as I have seen and read, 1914 was to be the BEGINNING of Armageddon, and the start of the Earthly paradise was to be a little later, 1915-16 or so, I don't have the quote in front of me, but Russell on the wholesale collapse of governments etc. Doesn't change the fact that what they thought THEN is not what they now say that they thought then - but to be 100 % correct, I think "conclusion" should be substituted by "beginning".

"there have been plenty of demonstrations that bacteria evolved to better exploit the resources in their environment. That is evolution and it's been reproduced in a controlled laboratory environment. Since we can reproduce it, it's obviously observable. "
Yes. And that is adaption. That is micro-evolution, not macro. Our friend Mr. Bacteria is still Mr. Bacteria.

In stead of reading the summaries some here give - good, but still nothing but summaries - why don't you read Garbe? It's all there. Thick as a brick, but a truly great history of JWs and WWII. The pre-Hitler persecution, early Hitler acts, Rutherford's attempts at coming to terms, Balzereit, conventions, campaigns, internal strife within the camps, factions among the JWs - it's all there. So summaries here are nothing "new", nothing that is "hidden from the JWs", "shocking news" or anything like that. Read Garbe - or a couple of the other good German historians for that matter. Good books. And nothing neither a JW or an ex-JW should be afraid of. Just plain good old-fashioned research with all the pro's and con's, all the successes and setbacks. -

Book Burning and other burning of materials done by JW. Any experiences Please post
by adjusted knowledge inas a very young child i have memories of several book burnings done by jw families.
it wasn't something arranged by the congregation, but elders did participate in it.
it was actually scary for me as a child of only about 8 years old.

Stupid post. Burning books? Yeah, sure. The only book burning that took place, was the Nazis burning JW books back in the 30's.
Burning books? Man, what topic!
