Mavman,
I don't see this bit of counsel from the GB as anything clear enough to be considered as "positive" much less any kind of "change". They are simply stating not to let it slip, from what I can tell.

Name Withheld,
You beat me to posting that thought. I know from personal experience of a case in which an Elder had been taking advantage of sisters in bad marriages through the use of "sheparding calls", he did this for years!
And what about the part on child abuse?
"(4) Child abuse is a crime. Never suggest to anyone that they should not report an allegation of child abuse to the police or other authorities. If you are asked, make it clear that whether to report the matter to the authorities or not is a personal decision for each individual to make and that there are no congregation sanctions for either decision. This, no elder will criticize anyone who reports such an allegationn to the authorities."
What does that mean? Are they asking the elders to lie? Does the 2 witness rule still apply? Will a person still get DF'd without 2 witnesses?
i received a fax, at the office today, regarding the "un" thing.. it came complete with url for http://www.unwatchtower.com/.
it sure caused a stir in the office, where they know i'm an ex-jw.. anybody else receive it, or know who sent it?
Little Toe,
I hadn't seen this URL but thank you for sharing.
here is my granddaughter and daughter asleep on my couch.
she says she feels so relaxed and peaceful when she's down here.
it must be true because she fell asleep in a few minutes when she layed down on the couch with emily.
aaawwwww... That's so beautiful! Even more beautiful is the love that you feel. It's wonderful to have people in our lives that make us feel this way. The simple things... I always say...
i remmeber it being said at mettings that if we didn't do the preaching work then the "stones would cry out".. carn't rememeber where it's from or whether it's a society teaching.. any one remember?
LOL@Nathan!
some might be following the andrea yates trial (the mother who drowned her 5 children).
the march 18, 2002 issue of newsweek, has an article on page 8, entitled "examining a spiritual leader's influence," that's about the yates trial.
i'll list some quotes from this article:.
I agree Six and Circe2. Mix a little psychosis (Yates suffered from depression) with religious manipulation and this is what you get... News headlines... Mother kills her 5 children.
I've run across some JWs in my life that seemed a tad on the psychotic side... the fact that their minds are also being controled and manipulated by the Watchtwower is such a scary thought. I fear for what could happen to these people or what they could possibly do to others.
Wasn't that Smith gal that put her children in a car and let it sink down to the bottom of a river a JW?
i came upon this yesterday and almost could not believe what.
i was reading.
i did not think even charles t. russell would be.
Thanks VM44, T
The first link says it's a non-existing page, though.
i hated growing up as a witness.
i hated the boring ass meetings where you could hear a pin drop on the floor, i hated going door to door and i hated not being normal like the other kids.. but the one thing i liked was going to the assemlies at the oakland coliseum.
i would wander around and find other kids to goof around with.
I was babtized in 1996, never got to have any of that good food. :(
I was lied to and was also ripped off while I was being lied to?

VM44,
Where on the web can I find other old WT reprints? Do you know? Where did you get this one? Thanks in advanced for the info.

march 10, 2002 .
jehovah's witness man shunned after consenting to daughter's blood transfusion.
Thanks for posting this Messenger! I too wish we could somehow get in touch with this poor man and let him know he is not alone in his trial. This is the very thing that got me looking into outside material so many months ago. I'm getting up in age in regards to having children and had decided I wouldn't have any because I felt I wouldn't be able to deny my child a blood transfusion if I was ever faced with such a "test of faith". This led me to want to be absolutely sure about the blood issue and thus here I am.
