FOURTY YEARS FROM NOW
by ballistic ini see 1.16 million witnesses world-wide.
the number of remnant will still be around 8000. the generation that saw 1914 will all be dead.
food shortages will just about be ending and the society will use the "earthquakes" logic to explain this.

Dateline - reactions the morning after.
by dmouse inwhat happens the morning after dateline?
how will most jws react?
these are my thoughts on the matter, which, of course, are open to debate:.

It may have a “snowball effect” by bringing forth more abuse cases. The story will affect the Jws who have been involved in this issue and still feel no justice was done. The others who have not gone through this aspect of JW life will not be moved........

New Jersey couple excommunicated from Jehovah's Witnesses for speaking out against abuse
Sat May 11,12:30 AM ET
By BETH CAMPBELL, Associated Press WriterLOUISVILLE, Kentucky - A woman said she and her husband have been excommunicated from the Jehovah's Witnesses after speaking out against the church's handling of their daughter's allegations of sex abuse by another member.
Barbara and Carl Pandelo of Belmar, New Jersey, had been awaiting a decision since Monday, when a judicial committee of the church met in New Jersey to consider ousting them, a practice which the denomination terms disfellowshipping.
"They've just made it official now," she said Friday night in a telephone interview.
They are among four Jehovah's Witnesses who were threatened with disfellowship for sowing discord in the faith by speaking out against the church.
One of them, William Bowen, a 44-year-old former church elder from Draffenville, Kentucky, has complained that child-sex allegations are generally not reported to secular authorities by the Jehovah's Witnesses because of the church's closed nature and insistence on handling problems internally.
Anthony Valenti, an elder in the Pandelos' church, did not immediately return phone calls Friday night.
But J.R. Brown, a spokesman for the denomination, said earlier this week that parents are not punished by the church for going to the police first in cases of child molestation. He said anyone found guilty of molestation by a church judicial committee is removed from all positions of responsibility.
The Pandelos' dispute with the denomination dates to 1988, when their 12-year-old daughter said she was molested by her paternal grandfather, also a member of the faith. The grandfather has returned to the denomination.
Carl and Barbara Pandelo have not been active in the church for some time, she said, but she regrets losing the friends they made.
"To take someone and shun and abandon them is the most psychologically damaging thing you can do," Pandelo said.
Barbara Anderson of Normandy, Tennessee, has also been summoned to appear before a committee. Anderson has said she learned about the church's handling of abuse cases while working at its headquarters in New York City.

Taking Blood Willingly
by ThiChi intaking blood willingly.
if the wt reversed its policy on blood and made it a conscience matter, would most jws still reject blood as an option?
what do you think?

Good point. What about adult Jws who have the maturity of age to engage in objective thinking?

I do believe in fact most are willingly following the WT policy on Blood. As an Elder, I was called on more than once by the victim to help assure the Brothers on the Hospital Liaison Committee were doing their job and to assure the Doctor knew we were watching.
Most do agree and accept the WT policy (as I did, until I read Franz second book, ISOCF and realized it was rubbish). The point is this, all Jws can read and study the WT policy on Blood and accept it or leave as Dfd or DAd. So far, the overwhelming majority of Jws not only accept the WT policy on Blood, they defend it to the death. The rise in popularity in bloodless treatments and Bloodless Hospitals are one side affect.Even if the wt Blood policy was reversed in its entirety today, and the taking of Blood became a matter of conscious, the overwhelming number of Jws WOULD still reject Blood.
I know of many ex JWs who still hold the Wt policy on Blood to this day......I still, inside, would only use Blood as the very last resort. Why? I think it is the WT drilling in my head all those years....even with the facts. However, I still choose!

DEAD LAMBS!
by moman inof course the sexual abouse of children is horrible, but what about the "slaughter of the innocnents" by the borg?.
a child does have the chance to recover from abuse, but not death!.
the watchtower knows that its blood policy is based on misinterpretation of schripture & bad science, yet they allow this insane policy to continue, as more die every day, after all, "jehovaha's people are a happy people!".

Great points, I have enjoyed your thoughts.....It is truly heart breaking to see how the WT uses shunning in this matter. All the lives (young and old alike) that are affected in such a way that if you do make it out alive, you could still be treated as dead, for the sake of adhering to a policy that has already changed many times over the years...........

JR & handholding your local pedophile
by SixofNine ini've seen a jr brown quote stating that 'the current jw policy does not allow known pedophiles to go door-to-door by themselves'.
could someone post the details of when and where this policy became official and the exact wording of said policy?
also, there was a jr brown quote from 6 months ago or so to the effect that, "we may have had problems with our policy in the past (like many other religions), but we now have an aggresive policy to protect the congregation from pedophiles", or substance thereof.

Brown’s statement truly “begs the question.” If this policy is in place, what was the effective date of this policy? BOE letter date.
