  alanf seem to suffer from ego centricity disorder.

  people in thisn place have patted him on back too much it went to his head.

  he think that cause he can shuffle a few figures and write terrible papers on evolution book that he ok. he needs humble self and quit taking praise from people.

  AlanF has my respect. Though I do not agree with him on every topic, his grasp of the WT picture and underlying issues is very impressive. I wish that most here would use more tack when dealing with the pro Jws, however, I do understand their frustration when adressing JW issues close to their heart.

  Free thinkers should applaud AlenF for his viewpoints and insights.

  Could I Make It As A Professional Gambler?

  as i have mentioned before, at the end of august i plan on moving to las vegas.

  however, i am wondering if i could acually make a living as a professional gambler.

  i recently bought a cd-rom game that has many casino games.

  I play poker quite often. Remember, it is very different than playing with a program. I would first find a good game with a 1-5 dollar limit and see what the pressures feel like at a live game.

  You have the power bluffers, who will bet into you no matter what hand they have. There is an art to recognizing this and betting around this type of player. Also, subscribe to Poker Player magazine to start understanding playing strategies.

  I know of persons who do make a good living from poker.......

  Help, my son misses the hall...

  he really does.. we had a long chat tonight and he was really sad.we were never integrated into jw society,so it's not the people;he justsaid ...'want to belong to god's family'?

  !i went through a few more points as to why the wtbs wer'nt the 'right' religion and asked him if he felt god was happy with people who lie.he re-accepted that and then said'so,how do you know where to go?i tried to explain it by asking him if he thought god looked at congregations or individuals and we got to the conclusion that it's probably individuals.... my point is, he wants to go to his teachers church,and i don't.my husband has never been interested in religion in any form and as the months go by,i feel less and less inclined to be involved in any religion.he has a strong christian theme at his school, but done nicely, so i know his desperation is,nt all 'my fault' but i feel guilty at making him so desperate to find the place he feels comfortable in.he's only 8 and an obsessed sports fan who has a very loving ,full life-but he's unhappy at night and i'm so worried it's my fault.i feel so depressed tonight and responsible for messing up his head with it all.the point is.... do i take him to his teachers church even though i have no desire to?how long would i have to go, feeling a hypocrite?.

  what will it do to him if i don't try to help him practically with how he's feeling?.

  There are a lot worse places he could want to go. As a free thinker, you can instill points and counter points as his life progresses though his search for the truth..........I say let him get it out of his system........

  BOWEN'S COMMON CAUSE

  i'm still thinking this through, so i invite differing perspectives from the board members.. if bill bowen's mission is to expose the wt policy on molestation, and hence by this exposure ellicit a favourable change to their paradigm, wouldnt he as a result be inadvertently " cleansing " the wt, making it " better " ?.

  this obviously being a fruitage of his works, and the fact that he has the unequivocal support of most xjw's ( like you fine folk ) wouldnt that mean that you guys would then be a part of that aforementioned work, that of improving the wt image and policy.. therefore the question is cloaked by a seeming contradiction in the form of a paradox, namely..... by supporting billy boy are you destroying the wt image or refurbing it ?.

  does god really work in such a mysterious way ?

  JWs are not going away. So, why not help to make a kinder, gentler, religion like Bill is doing? If the big issues like blood, misuse of disfellowshipping and the like were resolved, it would be a benefit to all.........inside or out

  Amazing Survived Major Heart Attack

  i just spoke on the phone to amazing (jim whitney) who is in intensive care in a chicago hospital.

  on monday he had a major heart attack, had a stint put in an artery to unblock things and may have bypass surgery.

  he's comfortable enough right now, but of course will have to make some big lifestyle changes.

  Jesus said that we have one master and all of you are brothers. Reading Paul’s letters, he debated quite a lot with other non apostles and mostly ignored the brothers from Jerusalem (EPH:1 :2).

  It is not the visible power structure that we should be looking to, but the invisible headship of Jesus Christ. Elders have authority to serve, not to “subordinate others.”

  Ray Franz second Book, ISOCF, really addresses this issue well.

  i was recently disfellowshipped, i guess about 9 months ago, but i always figured that i would get reinstated.

  fortunately, i decided that since i wasn't an active witness i could go ahead and read all that naughty apostate literature that we weren't allowed to read before.

  well, i'm glad that i did, because now my eyes are open.

  We are in good company. Christ was a “Dissident,” all the prophets of old, who hid in caves from “Jehovah’s Organization” in fear of their lives were Dissidents. Count me in!
