the following was forwarded to me, and i post it in its entirety, with a few edits for clarity, without comment.. ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ .
many of my friends are well aware that i'm not the slightest bit religious.
with other friends the subject has never come up - and might never have - i'm not much of a proselytizer.
Fascinating read. Thanks for posting it Alan.

as many of you know, i believe in remote healing and the power of prayer.
so i am asking those of you who also believe in these things to pray for me this time.
(lena is doing excellently well, thank you!
((((Brenda))))
You've got it babe. All the positive thoughts you can possibly handle headed your way.

may they be honoured and never forgotten .

"May they be honored and never forgotten."
I second that. How sad for their families, but at least they will remember them with honor and pride.

about 120 or so of us hippy-surfy-bushy-arty types rocked the night away at the old tanja hall.
it was a very big turn out for our small community.
this is truly a wonderful part of the world ?

I still pop in to see what everyone is up to. It was nice and interesting to read about your recent escapades. I do wonder about all the details you probably omitted.
Now that I hear about the volunteer work you're doing, talking with respected environmentalists, studying nature and all that... I've decided you must be too intellectual for me to have a conversation with, so please don't feel that you have to take "pity" on me and respond.
Nice to hear you're living your life,
Tracy
as mentioned in my other thread, my daughter lena is having brainsurgery on monday, jan 24. the surgery will last 6-7 hours, so i'm hoping the board members will be willing to make a special effort tomorrow to send positive thoughts, healing energy, good wishes and prayers her way.
we are asking that the surgeon's hands be delicate and skillful and that lena does not bleed overmuch and that brain damage be minimal (if not non-existant).
surgery begins at 8 am eastern standard time (us), but we have to have her to the hospital by 6 am, so this is "good night!
((((Brenda))))
Big hugs to you and Lena

july 6th 1946 when they sprinkled star-dust in my hair!.
by a quirk of fate, sylvester stallone was also born on july 6th 1946.. but i've just found out that someone else moderately well known was also born on july 6th 1946.. groaaaan!
Well, I don't post here in a while...and suddenly I'm a spy! How do you like that? Time to clean up the system again. Tracy the Spy |

a few people have asked how jwd came about and what my own story is and while i've posted it in bits and bobs, i've never tried to tell it as a story so here goes .... living in suburbia.
i was born a jw to jw parents who had recently been missionaries / pioneers in ireland and taken literature into countries like spain when it was banned but who were now living in suburbia near to where they had both been brought up.
we lived in a new semi-detached house in a cul-de-sac at the bottom of a hill - fantastic for building go-carts and racing down !
Thanks for posting it Simon!
I enjoyed hearing more about your life, and I enjoy your story telling style..even the funky use of some "English" words!
I never really knew how you were estranged from your Dad, that's something that leaves a mark on your soul.
Looking forward to more of the story!

i would like to as the men on the board a question.
if your wife/partner were to slap you during an argument, would you feel that if you were you to hit back it would make you equal?.
we all know that violance, no matter how minor is wrong, but this is a question about equality.
I personally find it offensive in movies where the woman is outraged so she smacks the guy across the face....and he just stands there. If someone smacks me, my gut reaction would be to smack them back. I expect men to have the same gut reaction. I told my boys, even when they were little, that they had the right to defend themselves against anyone, male or female. In this situation, I've seen grown men choose to restrain the female, or push her away rather than hit her...but if she keeps coming at you, smack her. Why should it be different if it was a man?
