Agent,
I've seen a wide range of reactions from ex-JW's. Everything from atheism to born-agains. I guess it's really a personal decision based on past experiences and current beliefs.
Personally, I've never been a JW and I feel I DO have a personal relationship with God. However, you may view my relationship differently; because my views are rather unusual. Despite this, I have found others who have similar feelings.
I am put off when others try to "interpret" scripture for me and want only their view to be acceptable.

spreading WBTS deceit and lies door-to-door
by somebody inshe misses him so very much that she still cries sometimes for him when she has a bad day.. about 2 months ago, my husband was at her house working on his car.
when he came home, he told me that jehovah's witnesses came knocking at her door.
she invited them in the house.

Somebody,
I've never been "in", but I can understand your feelings. Last summer my grandmother was visited by JW's. It worried me because I know they don't come right out and say what it's all about. I printed alot of information and gave it to her. They haven't returned, though. Guess they just lost interest.

Why I Think Its The Truth!
by normie67 inthis is normie thoughts on the threads about the truth..... i have huge doubts about a lot of things about the org.
i have been a jw for 20 yrs and still active(family reasons).
but nobody but nobody has refuted to my mind, the fact nobody does the evangelizing work jesus did.

Normie,
I believe Scorpion is right. Your reply got me interested, so I did a search on "Jehovah" and found many interesting info. You might want to try it if you're really interested in the name. Go to yahoo or any other search engine and type in "Jehovah" (not JW) and see what comes up.
You seem to have sidestepped my main point, however. My question is: "You say you know about the WT's past. How can you teach things that you doubt, in an organization which you really don't believe in?"
As for my thoughts on the bible, I've posted it elsewhere on the forum; so I won't bore you all with it here.(thinker's thoughts on the bible) -

normie,
If I understand you, there are two or three things that convince you about the JW's: 1)using the name "Jehovah" 2)preaching door-to-door 3)the "global" scope of the Watchtower.
1) Was the WTBTS jehovah's organization when it started as a small group of bible students? (Not global)
2) If someone starts a group called "Jehovah's Warriors" and preaches door-to-door will it be Jehovah's Organization?
3) Doesn't the facts or falsehoods of the material being preached matter? In my opinion, the WT has grown global because it is very controlling and very hard to leave or even question them. You gave any excellent example when you explained why your posts are so brief.
Good luck to you,

Read a great quote this morning. Seems to fit some peoples idea of the bible.

Heresy of the Month
by thinker inheresy of the month (from a website).
don't you hate it when someone you know comes up with some new thing that you have never heard about?
you sit there in apparent ignorance as they pontificate about the proofs and merits of some idea so far beyond common knowledge that it can only be revealed by people of exceptional enlightenment such as they.

Leaning Tower Bath and Shower Society
Leaning Tower "April Showers Edition" April 2001I wrote a post that was quickly "buried".
Thought I'd take the opportunity to put it here as well. Hope no one minds.Thomas Jefferson said of Jesus's teachings:
"They have been still more disfigured by the corruptions of schismatizing followers, who have found an interest in sophisticating and perverting the simple doctrines he taught, by engrafting on them the mysticisms of a Grecian sophist, frittering them into subtleties, and obscuring them with jargon, until they have caused good men to reject the whole in disgust, and to view Jesus himself as an impostor. " (from Jefferson's Syllabus of an Estimate of the
Merit of the Doctrines of Jesus,
Compared with Those of Others)I started to think about where my thoughts on the Bible came from. My basic thoughts on it are contained in the most important biblical characters words (Jesus) from his most "formal" sermon, the sermon on the mount.
I'm sure many can find scripture to prove alot of different things that they believe in. But for me, this says it all.Blessed are:
the poor in spirit
they that mourn
the meek
they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness
the merciful
the pure in heart
the peacemakers
they which are persecuted for righteousness' sakeMat5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. Mat5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; Mat5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. Mat5:46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? Mat5:47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others?
(How could anyone possible read this and then shun someone ??!!)
Mat6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
(To me this says: "Build a one-on-one relationship with God", Jehovah, Yahweh, etc...)
Mat7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. Mat7:2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
Mat7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: Mat7:8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
(ANYONE can have a relationship with Him. No need for interpreters, governing bodies, etc...)
Mat7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Mat7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Mat7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? Mat7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

To all those who believe the flood story is literal:
Gen. 9:13 "I do set my bow in the cloud..."(KJV)
In biblical times a bow and arrow was the most powerful weapon available. A warrior who was at peace would hang his bow on the wall. If you believe the story is literal, you must believe a rainbow is God's weapon hanging on the wall of heaven and not a refraction of light caused by raindrops !!!
