i just happened on this place a few days ago, and thought i would stop in to see what it was all about.

it claims to be a jehovah's witness forum, which it is not.. dont want to come here and point fingers, as i am sure there are some good people in here, just seems the bad have followed the good.

i guess in reality thats always the case, but hey, what else would these people do if they couldn't wage their little war on the truth.

When I read your opening post my immediate thought was "troll" and read on to see what the fuss was all about. Thanks for being here and for exchanging much more.

To start with, a person like yourself convinced that the JW religion is both the "truth" and the truth you should not be here. You are fellowshipping with brothers and sisters who have left the WTS and openly criticize the leadership of that religion. Some here have been disfellowshipped and others DA'd themselves and according to the WTS, its directioves through the Watchtower and the (secret) elders manual you should not be having a discussion of spiritual things with such ones.

I think you know this already which is why it is refreshing to exchange thoughts with you. This place is open to discussion of the JW religion without restrictions. You will not have your posting rights removed for expressing your beliefs. Be aware that there is a wealth of experience and knowledge amongst the combined members of this board. There are ex-bethelites and ex-elders and MS here. Some have sat on the elder's side of judicial hearings, some have experience in giving talks at many locations, Circuit and District conventions. Some us have been raised as Witnesses and reached out to higher offices and then walked away when we found what we think is the real truth.

Join in the discussions, we all will benefit.

here is another example of watchtower magick, which makes things go away.. a case almost 10 years old now, where a married jw couple living near charlotte, nc filed charges against elders & the wts.. 8, count'em eight, criminal charges were filed against these defendants.. a jw sister, named ginger boggess was hauled in before a judicial committee because her daughter wanted to join a high school function.. the elders on the committee really musta worked her over, or so she alleged.. the complaint listed:.

1. false imprisonment.

I am not conspiring against you or contradicting anything brother Farkel is saying. I was actually making a general comment about your presence here and critism of Amazing.

Admit it Friday you love being here and you find our company preferable to that of the brothers at the Kingdom Hall. Afterall, you spend far more time with us in fellowship than with the brothers after the meeting.

We may disagree on a lot of things and you are involved in a lot heated debates but no one shuns you. There's no such thing as bad association and I don't mind you associating with us.

Help with sister who's considering joining the WTS

i've been reading this board for a couple of weeks now.

because of it, i've ordered and received "crisis of conscience" and have begun to read it.

i've also done many searches about jehovah's witnesses, the watchtower society, disfellowshipping, etc.

Hi Kitty,

I think there is one thing you can show your friend's sister before she makes a choice. Ask her how many support groups exist for ex-Methodists, ex-Presbyterians, or ex-Lutherans. Ask her to compare that to the number of groups dedicated to supporting and helping ex-JW's. It says a lot about the religion if so many feel abused and screwed up after living life as a JW.

Ask her also, if she knows the oath she will pledge at baptism and what the implication is as to being baptized into a legally incorporated organization. She should be made aware before the question is asked on the day.

Elders appointed by Holy Spirit?

Hi Esther,

The Co told us this when he was encouraging us to "wait on Jehovah" to put matters straight, not to deny that the elders were chosen by holy spirit.

Another story I was told by a CO. An elder (PO actually) in the London, England area was disfellowshipped for smoking, He had been secretly smoking the entire 12 years he had served as the cong's PO. Again, we were told we should to "wait on Jehovah" and he will sort it out. It struck me then that Jehovah is very slow and even if it does get sorted out what about all the harm caused in the meantime? Smoking is not that bad, there are a lot worse sins committed in secret by elders in the congs.

One other example. When my brother-in-law was a kid his dad served as an elder. This elder gave the public talk on Sunday about family life and Christian values etc, on the Monday he left his wife and kids and ran off with the wife of a MS. I guess another one got appointed by the mistake of the HS and Jehovah was a bit slow getting him removed too.

This former elder was jailed for sexually abusing his step daughters and was disfellowshipped a second time. My BIL has nothing to do with his dad now. He is an active member in the congregation last time I knew.

most of the stuff posted here is negative, hateful, and blasphemous against god.

even if many of you are right in saying that the jws are wrong on many and important issues, that does not make you right.

so unless you are convinced that there is no biblical god you are facing serious trouble when you die or if the lord comes during your lifetime.

I didn't believe I was appointed by holy spirit. I didn't want to be an elder, I didn't like most of the other elders, and I don't really know why I accepted. I thought I was doing just less than what was required. I had never given more than the "Instruction" talk and not even part of a public talk before making elder. I thought that was in part to the PO who disliked me for questioning his motives and procedures on more than one occasion.

I think the beginning of the end for me started with being made an elder. I was shocked that the great org was run by dumb, bickering and corrupt elders and I had joined them. I resigned about 3 years later after a bitter disagreement about covering up of wrong doing.

I didn't think the HS had anything to with my appointment and didn't see much evidence of it within the elder body.

20 years ago I did a little sky-diving but soon afterwards a local needs item was presented on "dangerous sports". Sky-diving was regarded as a dangerous activity and those who do such things apparantly do not respect the life they were given.

Instead I was told I should be respecting the life I was given by knocking on doors and selling mags.
