i was reading via kent's site some of the "to all boe" letters.

i noticed something in particular in the letter of february 27, 2001 about the formation of the christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses, a new legal entity.. that letter in part states:we thank you for your cooperation with these adjustments made by the governing body in fulfilling its assignment to care for all the master's belongings.

(matthew 24:45-47. i thought the "faithful slave" was entrusted with the master's belongings not the gb.

The GBs claim (they approved the letter, didn’t they?) is just as presumptuous as the Watchtower’s claim that Jesus chose them in 1919 as his only representative. In effect JWs teach that Jesus chose the board of directors of the Watchtower Society in 1919 presided over by J.F. Rutherford and for decades this board of elected officials was the Governing Body.

What is interesting is that none of Watchtower legal entities and corporations, including the new CCofJWs are headed by a member of the Governing Body. Yet the GB claims to be the “faithful slave” dismissing the role of the other 8,000 members of the exclusive club.

I think the text of the letter is a slip, perhaps even a “Freudian Slip” since the expressed sentiment is actually the reality of who controls the lives of 6 million JW adherents.

I thought the "faithful slave" was entrusted with the master's belongings not the GB. Is this a slip, is it new light, or is it the GB presuming to be the only part of the anointed who have any authority? An ideas anyone?

I wonder if I should post the address of my house and describe its layout and facilities. Then the JW survivors who get to live in the piles-of-manure's (us non-JWs) former houses will be prepared to move in soon after the big A.

Re: Survey for US people: America is the best?

for every person, there seem to be things they just don't understand.

for me, it's nationalism in more than homeopathic doses.

i wouldn't have expected to meet that much nationalism on an ex-jw board, but then, life holds many surprises.

1) It is for ME because all of my hopes, dreams, and most loved ones lay or live in the USA.

2) Comparing countries? Standard of education, political and religious freedom, economic stability standard of living.

3) Yes to a degree.

4) Yes. I try to listen, watch, read unbiased (relatively) news. I talk to people of other culture/backgrounds and find out they feel and what they believe. I read articles from foreign correspondants and I listen to experiences of writers. (There was a wonderful piece recently by an American writer who lived in Paris for 5 years.)

5) News and documentary. Personal experience.

6) Not always. My view and expectation of the USA prior to visiting was somewhat different from my experience. I believe the same is true for many other places. You have to live there to really understand.

7) I have been resident of 3 countries, UK, Australia and USA. I lived in Australia for 2 years, the USA nearly 7 years. I have worked in and often visited Canada. I have visited and worked in Ireland, France, Germany and Switzerland. I have visited as a tourist other southern European countries and one Eastern European country. My oldest brother has shared with me his experience of living and working in India and Iran.

In all cases I have found people to be friendly and hospitable to strangers. You can't label whole countries just because of the political regime (i.e., "an axis of evil").

In several cases I was surprised because expectations were bettered by reality. My experience: It helps if you try to speak in the local languages even if you are totally hopeless (like me).

Guy loses crutch

i am working in my parent's bakery when i guy comes in with one crutch.

he obviously had trouble walking.

a quick introduction then on to my 2nd post *smiles*.... general greetings & well wishes.....i'm new to jwd, but not new to xjw/jw chat.

i'm 36 years old (and yes...i'm wearing a bonnet and a pink outfit in my pic) (that means i'm a chick for all you lusty men)i've spent the last 3.5 years online laughing, crying, generally healing from my watchtower divorce.

so now that i've let go of all the spit n venom...i sit here worried that my posts will lack the sarcasm and general wicked tone necessary to keep your interest...maybe i should invest in some semi-nude glamour shots?

i thought it might be a good idea to find out at what age or after how long we descided to leave the watchtower.. prehaps we my find a patern in it which we could use .. i think what we need to know are ,.

1.age you left the watchtower.

(or age you found out it was wrong).

What is your ex-JW retirement plan?

i have been talking to a few people in chat recently about retirement strategies for ex-dubs.

it doesnt take a rocket scientist to realize that many people who exit the borg are really in a very poor situation in terms of their retirement prospects.

if it wasnt bad enough that there was always the pressure to avoid higher education and the corresponding quality jobs afforded by such, many dubs were just plain conned out of their resources by the borg in thinking that the end was just around the corner and you should pioneer, even if it meant selling your assets, going into debt, or turning down good job opportunities.

I attended a time management seminar recently where the instructor told a real life horror story about the 60 year old plastic surgeon who with his wife (also a surgeon) and an annual income of $1 million. His $15 million home had no equity, he owed $3.8 million in credit card debt and and equal amount of gambling debts. He had no savings. He hoped to retire at age 65 and was being told to declare bankrupcy.

I made little in the way of plans for retirement until I left the J Dubs. A divorce and the split of assets along the way didn't help either. I now have several different forms of retirement including a 401K, mutual funds, an IRA, savings and some equity in my home. I hope to retire or at least cut back when I am 60. I have about 3/4 of the requirement to qualify for medicare in the US. I may be entitled to some pension from the UK since I paid into the national scheme for 17 years. I won't count on that (since I can't vote in UK elections I guess I am disowned anyway) or a US state pension. I think I will have to care for myslef. I am a little late starting but I think I can catch up.
