I remember something about a firmament? The water canopy was called firmament, because the water was hard, frozen Ice, and that sun light was defracted, not specular, so: no rainbow no rain, no bow, no pot of gold. actually, it was the water missing from Mars, that fell, all the way. pushed by the solar anti-wind. wow.

Okay, going back because I have been out 30 years now, but wasn't that part of the lyrics in a Kingdom song, something about Noah having faith cause it had never rained before? If I remember, it was a rather rousing tune? Anyone else remember this?yeah, should have kept the old song books. It was a march, could have clicked my heels.

to follow on the "no rain before" thread: where did all this water come from? from on high. the wt water canopy. , not just cloud level, perhaps orbit leve. some one calculated water or anything falling from that high, would have correspondingly high temperatures Think sattelite burn-ups upon re-entry. everything would be cooked in the rain that was held back for 1600 years. a water based faith, not build on rock. -

but the deluge made up for it: 2oo meters of rain a day, 10 meters 33 feet an hour everywhere. that is why they study this tidbit in the "Imitation Faith" book this week at the hall, makes you weak. -

Neglect of Adolescents by the WTBTS - Excellent Article
by Tornintwo ini have been thinking a lot about the lack of support, judgement and criticism of teenagers in the organisation.
i am dealing with the fallout of these policies with my two adolescents...i found this excellent article this morning which is worth a read for anyone interested in this topic - see the links below but first i also wanted to add my own bugbear, forgive the rant: .
a key factor which isn't mentioned in the article is the 'bad association' rule and it's extended application.

Even in their now defunct wt "school" they totally neglect and turned off the young males. A bright young man we know has been doing 'no comment' bible readings since he was seven ( on a footstool)***. Now, as a straight "A" student enrolling in college, he is still doing bible readings.
With the closing of the Minister[y] "school", things will even get dummer bleaker for the bright males.
***admittedly he had one no.4 talk on "the meek will inherit the Earth" (the 144 000 anointed of course) that he concluded it by by saying: "no matter what, is so pleasant to have some meek around us even now"

The Disaster scenario, scrambling out with a backpack is perhaps an isolating technique, an option exploitable by wt. If you live outside a 500 year flood zone, better to stick around home, with camper truck ready to roll, cook , sleep, eat in the yard, firewood , supplies already at at hand. scenarios differ. imagine if Abraham had stayed put and now would own all that ME oil. -

JWs have more good points than bad
by lsw1961 in1) many who were on the destructive path have been transformed by their teachings (this includes me who was once vicious, and presumptuous and atheistic).
2) equal monthly pay to all members of the bethel community regardless of whether they are bc members or sweepers.
this is something that still remains as an unattainable dream for the world.

JWs have more good points than bad.?-- yes some individuals do,-- but the WTBtS through it's teachings, operations does not.
take your time here please to see how those teachings totally destroy the claimed good. and the good will be better in better, freer settings.

I have learnt a lot on various subjects, especially since at my time Awake was published twice a month each having 32 pages and the layout was not as "airy" as today.
yeah, it had those little filler items. to use all the space available. in one of them they quoted reader's digest, that birds opened their feathers on the upstroke and closed them on the downstroke,*** an old wrong myth, the opposite is true, and when called on it, the writer later snuck in the correction in a barely related topic. ha. so,don't brag about your non-education at ga college.
***In flight, birds do not flap their wings to push the air down to climb. The flapping is akin to the flapping of fishes ',- wales' tailfins to generate forward thrust. Opening the feathers on the downstroke, particularly at the tips creates more flexible flapping surfaces pushing air backward.
I learned that awake,is not yet in the ga golden age of science

lsw1961 welcome ! --do I hear a slavic accent? have you lived through the Stalin years? working in a state-owned enterprise? belonged to the pioneers? everybody is "tovarich", but some are more "rich" than others? like in bethel. equal in the race to the bottom? flying first class? To quote a source you should be familiar with: "Religion is opium for the people", and this "bible -based" religion is no exception. No doubt opiates are painkillers, a real benefit, and withdrawal can be shattering, but has to done to face and enjoy reality, better sooner than later.
Keep posting and reading here and the sites mentioned above. and see not only the good but the better. karashov ++
