  when i was first introduced to the "truth", i was so distracted by the love and affection that the members were showing me that i was ready to convert into the religion without thinking twice.

  i was conviced that jws were god's people (i still think some of them are).

  i made it my goal to get baptized as i wanted to be part of the "only" religion that produce such good people.

  What made you turn atheist or agnostic?

  if you were a jw and are now an atheist or agnostic, what was the tipping point that made you turn to it?.

  the reason i ask is i have noticed that many who leave the jw's seem to turn to atheism, versus still having some form of a faith.

  have many of you given up on god first or have you had atheistic views first and then found atheism to be true.

  I am still one notch beyond agnostic, although we are not certain, even in science, of all things; I am still a Deist, my turning ?:

  1) watchtower is wrong about the bible,

  2) the bible is wrong about reality . wrong compounded. the two witness rule at its best.

  3) all book-,tablet- based beliefs are wrong, except the readers of the "book of nature". we just need more time and better glasses; hopefully that will shift the four groups into the better camp either way.

  rutherford believed the "great tribulation" would begin during world war 2. his book "enemies" explained america and britain would turn into a fascist/catholic state so...... watchtower 82 8/15 p.10 "for the saftey of the bethel family a place of refuge was built at south landsing new york.

  Relatives who work in Warwick are visiting

  so i have some relatives who work in warwick visiting us this week.

  the visit has been largely drama free.

  they came between meeting days, so the subject of going to the meetings never came up.. however, they have been talking about the "downsizing.".

  I can not imagine what it would be like to trying to talk to people about a hope that requires the end of the world to personally live forever, an end of the world that will come after the passing of an overlapping generation that might not come after 2075 after all. A house to house canvassing that has as a goal to start truly mind-stifling "bible study" indoctrination sessions, which goals it is to bring new recruits to training, indoctrination meetings with spiritual highlights, where the spiritual, worship highlights are the singing of truly ugly new melodies.-- The witnesses and householders have a common problem, they can not help but hate it. . So, who is the common enemy in this?

  Does Jehovah Intervene - JW Teaching

  i have been a jw my whole life and i have never been able to get a clear answer on this question.

  jw's do not believe that jehovah will intervene if someone is sick, dying or stopping a car crash.

  they feel that jehovah is letting "this world" play out before he solves all of these problems.

  the depressedsoul: "see what you are saying but it still doesn't explain why they say Jehovah intervenes for some things and yet when it comes to sickness/accidents that he stays completely out of it. wt's answer to that question was: If we would be favoured in every way, all people would flock to the khs and we would not really be tested, find worthy prospective NW citizen. God right now just gives some sample help, like the sample miracles of 'Jesus" ;-- now if I could just be part of the sample.

  Socrateswannabe, what you are saying is certainly true of the new crop of Circuit Overseers , cooky-cutter types, highly trained in their specialty, not renaissance men. Outside the box thinking does not have to come from outside of establishments though.
