Another generation....
by joey jojo init has been 21 years since the 1995 article that pretty much buried the idea of the '1914 generation'.. remember those guys?
the ones born in 1914 that would still be alive when the end of the system arrived.. i'm glad i'm old enough to remember going from door to door, preaching this belief.
the reason i say that is because i have a lot of 'still in' jw friends and family.

You said, Fisherman: :--The destruction is not part of the sign. well, the final destruction, of Jerusalem, the temple might not part of the the preliminary sign, but must in mho, be part of 'all these things,' (not one stone left upon the other), and of course THE battle, in the final fulfillment. or? -

WT [old] theology. Fisherman, did they not teach in the 1920s, that the churches proclaiming that "the UN is the expression of God's Kingdom on Earth"? constitutes the disgusting thing?
WT [newest] theology. I was referring to the current prophecy, which demands that the anointed remnant will be raptured before the onset of the End.; long enough before the batlle of Armageddon to be integrated into the immortal combat formations? so:
Because the anointed are the wt generation, they are supposed to pass away, they could not possibly be the generation that Jesus was talking about !! right? because Jesus said after all, the generation will not pass away.
It is the OS, prospective members of the GC, a constantly overlapping generation , not the anointed that fits the biblical description. How could wt writers missed that?

Beliefs About What Caused the Universe
by Perry inthe universe can be observed to be expanding.. an expanding universe must have had a beginning.
whatever begins to exist had a cause.
therefore the universe had a cause.

Simon: "It's really just a new form of "turtles all the way down" and just as dumb. The lady that advanced that explanation of the Earth's stability, did not know about the gravity/movement balance, similarly, our understanding of the pre-universe condition might not yet include a concept of causeless existence. not just dumb, but likely, hopefully only temporary. -

Jesus' temple/ Jerusalem prophecy never said the generation would "never die," never" pass away", but it said: will not pass away "until all these things occur", so, after these things have occurred it will pass away, and it has, like any other generation back then and in our 20/21 centries.
Fisherman declaring the wt generation theory/ hypothesis/prophecy "theological and mathematically sound", sounds hollow. not hallow.

JWs in denial, so sad
by Simon ini had a couple of jw sisters call at my door today.. they started with the bizarre "can we read you a scripture" and read about "death being no more" and asked what i thought of that.. i said it sounded like a mix of disney and dumb.. they then launched into how god was going to put an end to death and wasn't that wonderful?.
i said it would have been more wonderful if he'd not created death in the first place.. they thought man created death by disobeying so i questioned why god couldn't have just forgiven them.
apparently "because he loves us" is supposed to be a satisfactory answer to why he kills us.. i asked how loving it was to kill hundreds of thousands of children in tsunami's, disease and so on.. at this point, they gave up on the 'god is love' and switched to the bible being true no matter what because it was an old book and moses had written the first chapter (says the book).. when i suggested it really wasn't that old and that most of the bible myths were copies of older stories from before it was written they questioned if i studied the bible and theology.. then i told them i was brought up as a jw so knew it was all crap.. now it was game on, they immediately switched to play defence questioning why i'd left (and i think they'd already taken a step back away from "the evil" obviously emanating from me).. not much time to say much before they cut and run so i told them i'd left because i found out it was all based on lies and that the watchtower was corrupt and covered up things like child abuse.. oh no, you're thinking of the catholics one of them said (some disdain in how she said "catholics" as though "we're so much better than them").. "well, i challenge you to do a search for the australian royal commission and you'll see the testimony the watchtower leaders gave and the damning evidence that they covered up abuse and reported none of it to the police.".

Satan: "-- if Russel banged 20 women, or if some pedophile was JW and they didn't call the police. agreed, compared to the happenings in the "Residential" schools, the RC church, Rotherham, Cologne, these are minor matters, tragic for the wt victims though they are. That is why the wt keeps trotting out David all the time, a man according to god's (the 7 guardians of doctrine)'s heart.
The big issues are current and past prophecies, doctrines. procedures.

Who is your " I am" that your voice should be heard?
by The Rebel ini was recently thinking before i became " mike" i was an innocent baby, then as the days passed slowly by, i developed a sence of " iam".
as the days moved forward my body, slowly developed a a "sex organ" whilst my mind took on a sence of " emotional" and " intellectual" i am" .
this allowed me to become my current " i am?.

A) still a project under construction in my 9st decade. I am all for logic. the word.
B) like cofty have gone through many stages, exposed to major world view assertions, Nazi, Stalinist, JW, and upheavals ahead.
C) I consider my views normal of course, and should have the opportunity to be heard, thanks simon. If nobody listens, that is fine too.

Fisherman, you said: "--Wt current anointed overlap generation definition although disappointing is academically valid, not only because the overlap doctrine is valid but also because those of the gc born circa1935 have not passed away ( if their life span governs generation length as TD points out) . wow.
the wt account, page 84 of the" jw, proclaimers" book says, that on May 31**, at the Washington DC convention, the members of the great multitude rose from their seats, so anyone listening to the speaker and understanding would have to be of school age? say born before 1930? now at least 86 years old? the majority of them now dead, and not the general population, but baptized, loyal (the flavour of the year).? but if you Fisherman consider the overlapping generation idea valid, and the maximum natural human lifespan is 120 years, what will prevent wt or people like you to come up with the overlapping Great Crowd of 240 years, taken the wt hope to 2170, a hundred years longer than the double Freddy franchise of David Splane's talk?
Another generation indeed, tell us another one like that.--
** one of the greatest earthquakes occurred that day, killing 10s of thousands near the Himalayas, so another great war/ earthquakes analogy?? to keep the "start a generation with a bang" trend?

Science has often diminished the perspective of our central position in the cosmos, from Ptolemy to Copernicus to our own Galaxy universe ( 1920s) to now. --just one of billions of other galaxies, Our comparative size, importance has steadily shrunk, so, with the cause of the present universe as a prime target of researchers, the answer might shrink our status further, yet we are the ones asking the questions, have these beliefs. these hypotheses. -

Jehovah Witness vs Jehovah's Witness
by Simon inbeing brought up as a jehovah's witness means you are so used to the term that you rarely stop to think about it.. one thing i've noticed is that people unfamiliar with the religion will say "jehovah witness" (no 's) instead which i always found a bit grating.. but watching the us election, something struck me.
people are often referred to as "trump supporters", not "trump's supporters" and so on.
thinking about other things, people would say they were "united fan's", not "united's fans" and so on.. it seems weird that a group would refer to themselves as though it was someone else talking about them (in the 3rd person, if i have that right).. what do you think?
