let it be resolved: The remnant can not be the generation of Mat. 24.
by prologos indebating challenge: since the wt doctrine of the anointed generation must conform to bible teachings, and math 24 stipulates that the "generation " outlives "all these things" , and the anointed do not, how could they possibly be the generation, overlapping or not?

Bobcat, where is the proof in that text, that the presently living "anointed partakers" can be the wt generation? that Jesus was talking about, when he said that they will survive the end? -

Lieu, The premise of the debate is independent of the 2 group generation idea, but your's is a great observation:
There's that nagging prerequisite of being alive from start to finish.
Jesus' words clearly imply that the same individuals would experience all the features of the calamity he was talking about.

Another generation....
by joey jojo init has been 21 years since the 1995 article that pretty much buried the idea of the '1914 generation'.. remember those guys?
the ones born in 1914 that would still be alive when the end of the system arrived.. i'm glad i'm old enough to remember going from door to door, preaching this belief.
the reason i say that is because i have a lot of 'still in' jw friends and family.

Fisherman, :--But the destruction is not the sign or part of the sign. The destruction is what the sign points to. surely you are not saying that "all these things" are, or pertain to, only the preliminary sign?, not the meat, the gory genocide?, the flood-like global catastrophe?

Great comments, but the crux of the matter, do Jesus ' words really define the anointed remnant generation as wt writers are so adamant about?
Lieu: " if they die before seeing "all these things occur", --according to wt doctrine they will definitely die, called to heaven, before all these things occur. or, can you be raptured without dieing?

You said, Fisherman: :--The destruction is not part of the sign. well, the final destruction, of Jerusalem, the temple might not part of the the preliminary sign, but must in mho, be part of 'all these things,' (not one stone left upon the other), and of course THE battle, in the final fulfillment. or? -

WT [old] theology. Fisherman, did they not teach in the 1920s, that the churches proclaiming that "the UN is the expression of God's Kingdom on Earth"? constitutes the disgusting thing?
WT [newest] theology. I was referring to the current prophecy, which demands that the anointed remnant will be raptured before the onset of the End.; long enough before the batlle of Armageddon to be integrated into the immortal combat formations? so:
Because the anointed are the wt generation, they are supposed to pass away, they could not possibly be the generation that Jesus was talking about !! right? because Jesus said after all, the generation will not pass away.
It is the OS, prospective members of the GC, a constantly overlapping generation , not the anointed that fits the biblical description. How could wt writers missed that?

Beliefs About What Caused the Universe
by Perry inthe universe can be observed to be expanding.. an expanding universe must have had a beginning.
whatever begins to exist had a cause.
therefore the universe had a cause.

Simon: "It's really just a new form of "turtles all the way down" and just as dumb. The lady that advanced that explanation of the Earth's stability, did not know about the gravity/movement balance, similarly, our understanding of the pre-universe condition might not yet include a concept of causeless existence. not just dumb, but likely, hopefully only temporary. -

Jesus' temple/ Jerusalem prophecy never said the generation would "never die," never" pass away", but it said: will not pass away "until all these things occur", so, after these things have occurred it will pass away, and it has, like any other generation back then and in our 20/21 centries.
Fisherman declaring the wt generation theory/ hypothesis/prophecy "theological and mathematically sound", sounds hollow. not hallow.

JWs in denial, so sad
by Simon ini had a couple of jw sisters call at my door today.. they started with the bizarre "can we read you a scripture" and read about "death being no more" and asked what i thought of that.. i said it sounded like a mix of disney and dumb.. they then launched into how god was going to put an end to death and wasn't that wonderful?.
i said it would have been more wonderful if he'd not created death in the first place.. they thought man created death by disobeying so i questioned why god couldn't have just forgiven them.
apparently "because he loves us" is supposed to be a satisfactory answer to why he kills us.. i asked how loving it was to kill hundreds of thousands of children in tsunami's, disease and so on.. at this point, they gave up on the 'god is love' and switched to the bible being true no matter what because it was an old book and moses had written the first chapter (says the book).. when i suggested it really wasn't that old and that most of the bible myths were copies of older stories from before it was written they questioned if i studied the bible and theology.. then i told them i was brought up as a jw so knew it was all crap.. now it was game on, they immediately switched to play defence questioning why i'd left (and i think they'd already taken a step back away from "the evil" obviously emanating from me).. not much time to say much before they cut and run so i told them i'd left because i found out it was all based on lies and that the watchtower was corrupt and covered up things like child abuse.. oh no, you're thinking of the catholics one of them said (some disdain in how she said "catholics" as though "we're so much better than them").. "well, i challenge you to do a search for the australian royal commission and you'll see the testimony the watchtower leaders gave and the damning evidence that they covered up abuse and reported none of it to the police.".

Satan: "-- if Russel banged 20 women, or if some pedophile was JW and they didn't call the police. agreed, compared to the happenings in the "Residential" schools, the RC church, Rotherham, Cologne, these are minor matters, tragic for the wt victims though they are. That is why the wt keeps trotting out David all the time, a man according to god's (the 7 guardians of doctrine)'s heart.
The big issues are current and past prophecies, doctrines. procedures.
