Another generation....
by joey jojo init has been 21 years since the 1995 article that pretty much buried the idea of the '1914 generation'.. remember those guys?
the ones born in 1914 that would still be alive when the end of the system arrived.. i'm glad i'm old enough to remember going from door to door, preaching this belief.
the reason i say that is because i have a lot of 'still in' jw friends and family.

Fisherman your sincerity is admirable, I do not know about TD, but we have discussed cold facts here, without regard that there is a deeper malaise, If there was no talking snake, that we are living a normal, not sinful life, that there is no original sin, but the glory of life in us as it was developing as expected. That we are normal creatures, not degenerate adams, but survivors in the reaching for the future. We wanted to show, that the details do not fit the picture and even the picture might not be what reality is. p. -

F: :"Yet, Jesus’ words at Matthew 24:34 give us confidence that at least some of “this generation will by no means pass away” before seeing the start of the great tribulation--"
here you see the squirming, the double talk. The anointed generation will pass away well before Armageddon according to wt. . It will pass away before all these things, sign and final destruction, all, and there is where wt fails. contradicting Jesus. It is not the start of the great tribulation, but mainly it's climax that really comprises the all.

let it be resolved: The remnant can not be the generation of Mat. 24.
by prologos indebating challenge: since the wt doctrine of the anointed generation must conform to bible teachings, and math 24 stipulates that the "generation " outlives "all these things" , and the anointed do not, how could they possibly be the generation, overlapping or not?

VdH, ---funny, too bad the timelines of the different Generation permutations can not be merged too, At one time, the Anointed were supposed to survive into the "New World", at least that conformed to Jesus' predictions, now they have self-eliminated themselves from being that generation. -

fulano: I wonder why people keep on studying and investigating this BS. A couple of words in an old weird book.
To prove, that even using that book, this particular group, the peak anointed are wrong, do not even exist as claimed, and loyalty (flavor of the year) will be misplaced.

Ucantnome, I thought you had posted this by mistake on the neighbour thread. I am very simple, and there was more witness the name than generation there to my eyes. no doubt your deep, although for me too convoluted arguments are valued by many. -

Uncantnome: can you move that last post to the other thread, and then erase it? this is about the generation, not the name.
Fisherman, you might think we are pedantic in showing that "all these things " mean just that, all, and not just the sign of an invisible, even impending presence, {remember, in wt doctrine Jesus does not come, invisibly to sit down for judgement ,--until the great tribulation, 2075. !). wt doctrine depends after all on where you place 1 comma, 4 letters later or not. That translation detail separates the immortality of the soul from the sleep/death idea. so, details matter, and wt theology is not right, There is something seriously wrong with it, now that reality is catching up with it. sadly.

Was Jesus really a Jehovah`s Witness ? He never identified himself as such , in word or deed.
by smiddy inalso he never chastised the jews for not identifying themselves as jehovah`s witnesses following isaiah`s statement at ch.43 :10-12 , so many years before hand.. and he had ample opportunity to do so on numerous occasions .. jesus himself never used the divine name /jehovah or any other equivalent , in any of his sayings attributed to him by his contemporaries .. sure he acknowledged god as his father and that he did his fathers will , but he never acknowledged him by a personal name such as jehovah or anything like it.. and lets not forget acts 11:26 it was first in antioch that followers of jesus by divine providence were to be called christians , not jehovah`s witnesses,.

whenever somebody reproaches me for not using the name, , I reply, using Smiddy's quote. Jesus is not recorded to have ever used it, or, can you show me in the bible??, even when dying, surely an occasion to "bear witness" he said "Eli--". always shuts them up.

Fisherman, your conviction stands and falls now on the understanding of what Jesus meant when he said : all these things that are destined to occur. what happened in Jerusalem, to the temple??, the all is all embracing, not just a precursor sign.
The anointed generation has too short an advertised shelf life to be real.
