regardless of what the bible says, I believed Armageddon would be triggered at the very beginning of a MAD nuclear exchange. Before any targets are hit.

How Will Armageddon Begin?
by Cold Steel inand how long will it last?
and who will come after that, yahweh, as the old testament says or jesus, as the new testament says?
the scriptures say he'll come to the mount of olives, but surely that's a spiritual mount of olives.

The most sick statement put in JW print
by Chook inwt 1973 p568.
"did you know, for example, that mothers and fathers that stroke the genitals of their fretful babies to keep them quiet are unwittingly encouraging them to become maturbators later on?".
what sick fu... writing this article thought the the average person did this to keep kids quiet..

Jehovah's Love - or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Death
by undercover inthis idea was inspired by another post i saw (but forget who or where) referencing the mootness of delaying armageddon now that the 1914 generation is gone.
(i just skimmed over the post and thread, and didn't give it much thought until later).
wt doctrine basically says that jehovah, through his undeserved love, allows wickedness so that people can hear, and accept, the 'truth', thus being saved from the destruction of armageddon.

Jesus is supposed to have compared Armageddon to the flood. Only 12 out of the whole world survived;-- tens of thousand were building Pyramids in Egypt alone, so perhaps the present population is allowed to expand to bring the ratio of "survivors / killed babies et al" into line with the floods numbers?

Origin of Life
by cofty inin recent years significant progress has been made in solving the question of how life originated on our planet.. how do you think theists will respond when it finally happens?
as a former christian i know my reaction would have been something like "well that just goes to show that it takes intelligent life to make life", but for two reasons that defense doesn't work.. firstly it would prove that life is not an ethereal force that originates with god.
there is no 'ghost in the machine', no elan vital.

C: "in fact endowing satan's followers with the gift of life giving,-- I don't get.
The wt version of the bible flood story has the fallen immaterial "sons" of god "materialize" , or create human flesh&blood to cohabit with the gorgeous, near perfect females. The newly created males were ready to pass on life. so: does that not mean God had granted to others, the angels live-creating and passing-on capacity (this strain of life was different from Adam's genetics package)? of course this is all bollocks, but fodder for the gullible, and a continuing argument in wt's options to deal with the inevitable.

Memphis - The angels who made bodies for themselves already possessed the "spirit of life" - they were living spirits who changed form.
Same goes for the resurrected Jesus. The resurrection of the mythological Jesus, according to wt writers must have been a two step process, 1) a giving to him of immortality, and 'second Adam,' life-giving spirit, and 2) him then "materialising" a fake human body from scratch. A hybrid body that could penetrate walls.
The pre-deluvian angels turned demons being able to create organic bodies from scratch, in fact endowing satan's followers with the gift of life giving, allows for wt to claim.-- when scientific abiogenesis happens, that this system , Satan's, still exercises that longstanding power. nothing "materialistic only"about it. in their possible view. That is why How it is going to happen will shape creationist's response.

Mephis: "angels collecting dust (or whichever inanimate materials are supposedly required) and making their own bodies to impregnate women.
good point I had not thought of that aspect, and how about the the body that Jesus is supposed to have materialized to convince Thomas. In these supposed cases, it was life, non-biological life, that manipulated the dust, the ground rock. If, when human - created life fires up, It would depend very much on the technical aspects to see how believers of various shades react.

Science the bible and some telling scriptures
by Crazyguy inif one reads about god creating the earth with any critical thinking you'll notice that he created vegetation and the trees before the sun.
another one that i just read about was the stories about the golden calves.
one story involves the making of a golden calf by aaron and the other is about the golden calves that were set up at bethel and i think dan.

Mephis: :"(Because if he is, oops on the angels, women and Flood thing!).
In that mythological example, New life was not created from rocks, merely modified and passed on. Even in the Mary the virgin thing, (technically a kind of cloning), new life was not created, so: the original spark kept being alive and unwell. does not wt imply that the original force can not be captured, as it becomes inoperative at death of a living entity? How about the cryo-preserved bodies, --saving the deity the trouble of remaking the body, just: psssst breathing life again? IMHO' everybody would swallow hard if or when a second line of organic life is made.

K99:--"The worst part is that then the discussion goes nowhere.
If only somehow the objections could always be referenced to the bearing they have on the excellent theme that is discussed. Not many mind readers among us. The discussion prove though, that life started right to allow for such struggles for survival, intellectual monopoly that is. thank you just the same.

Yeah, when I copied that text out of my green " dinosaur in the Sahara" bible, I stopped briefly, but then for authenticity sakes I put in in, sorry I could not do it for dino too. (I am not making this up). Yesterday I straitened out the public talk speaker on the Bible-science talk he gave about Gen 1:1, : -In the beginning'' Heaven&Erath creation, when generations of stars had to die after the beginning to forge the heavy metals to shape Earth, 10 billion years later, he said: " I know", I said he was wise to put the emphasis on "heaven" rather than the earth. perhaps he is partially awake?
