Good questions Vidquin, may I add, the original questions were: how would believer react to the fait accompli, the future re-creative event of life's start.but now we are down to speculating how it happened, by slow evolution in a multiverse or a sudden major start just here. , how could you predict how deists, theist of various shades react to an event that has not occurred yet, and about which the details will be so important?

Origin of Life
by cofty inin recent years significant progress has been made in solving the question of how life originated on our planet.. how do you think theists will respond when it finally happens?
as a former christian i know my reaction would have been something like "well that just goes to show that it takes intelligent life to make life", but for two reasons that defense doesn't work.. firstly it would prove that life is not an ethereal force that originates with god.
there is no 'ghost in the machine', no elan vital.

perhaps they are very weary now to expose themselves and their spouses to private scrutiny, they never can be sure of everlasting loyalty anymore.

Ruby: :--here let me give you some science - life is continuous chemical reaction
To follow my "Pasteur" comment, It appears that non-living matter, even if organic, seems to be almost as immunized to resist self-starting the life-chemical-reaction, or to be easily prodded into firing up by catalysts.

Ruby: " his reactions are every bit as combustible as chemical reactions
I was not singling out cofty at all, in my quick, not to well thought out comment, I just can not follow the fine points made by most posters in these discussions. and come to think of it, --we were looking for and thriving on hot air, thermals in our sailplane flying days. that' is how you got a "high".

When you were fully in, did you believe that you would not die?
by TTWSYF ini know that it must seem silly to ask, but my brother and his family think that the big a will arrive before they die.
i tried to explain to my brother that everyone else who has ever lived in the past has died and only jesus has [physically] rose from the dead.. it is amazing that anyone could buy that line.
what crazy cult culture that could make people believe such nonsense?!.

When I was fully in, and before, and young, like many young people I was immortal, and lived dangerously to prove it. Dying never entered my mind. Did I doubt it could go on forever, of course not, I survived all those Motorcycle crashes didn't I ? was I working for wt, at 30cts an hour, looking for a reward? no, living was a reward enough, so yes I lived without an end so far. did I believe wt promises? it did not matter.

Ruby456: "--here let me give you some science - life is continuous chemical reaction
A chemical reaction that is contagious and has been going on for ~4 billion years, and has succeeded to transform itself into the most convoluted structures allowed by the niches it moved into. It has resisted replication since the days of Louis Pasteur. Cofty's well defined questions are really an invitation to speculate on the reaction of believers to an event that has not happened yet, an emperor straw man that *** so far has no cloths, or?
*** I was tempted to change that to "who" has no cloth, but that would be giving life, oxidisation to inert straw, previously alive. producing even more "hot air" in the process.

When synthetic organic life fires up, and comparisons can be made, then it will be time to see the reactions.

Midweek meeting video
by aboveusonlysky indid anybody see the service meeting video this week?.
australian sister was sexually abused as a child and thought of ending her life at 14 years old, sometime later jw's call on her father who accepts a study and eventually the whole family becomes witnesses, life gets much better as the sister immerses herself in pioneering etc, she still has some dark days but prayer along with going for walks and swimming has helped her cope with bad memories of child abuse, the new system (just around the corner) will completely fix everything......... i'm dumbfounded, the hypocrisy has literally rendered me speechless......comments anybody?.

and even the evil world does not report those crimes to the police (or mention it) , and when a victim converts to Wt's religion, we do not counsel, require them to go to the police either, after all, he was a family friend. Now: we are a world -wide family, so:--. same OZ production, appropriate attire at the same beach.

In a debate, argumentation,- to observers-, the gems of knowledge, of unexpected insight*** and the novel ways to present them often gets lost in the mud of mudslinging,, which is too bad. One debating technique is also, to denigrate , provoke, decimate, tire out your chosen target which is hilarious to some, but contributes nothing to enlighten the learners here.
*** was not the term "big bang" the product of an intense debate, a snide comment really? and talking of Ruby's "god outside the Universe" comment:
If a supposed creator was present during the big bang, and at that point in time was not outside the universe, he must have been of negative size. As it is, she is probably still outside the universe, cradling us in her inside. Interesting article on BBC ?: scientist are close to producing offspring from ova or even sperm alone. life at it's most basic reproduction.

It would be a real shame if a unique event, like a solar flare of a certain frequency agitated the pre-bio compounds into firing up the energy gradient use, the inheritance scenario, and-- the inability to find and replicated it (even if you have all the ingredients right) for a long time, will be interpreted as only "God did it directly" --see!
