Blood Sausage
by sassafras inlooking for some backup here..... i'm pretty new here, so let me give a quickie cliffsnote version of my situation.
my dh was raised a jw but hasn't attended a meeting since he started college (5 years ago).
he despised meetings and slept or doodled in his wt through at least 99% of them.

help! what does a jw say to the elders about DOUBTS?
by Cordelia inmy friend has been struggling in the 'truth' for a while, she was never really a model jw and since ive been dfed and her little sister was abused shes wanted to leave but cant seem to find the way to do it.
so she rung me today and told me she is meeting with the elders (two i think) as she has told them she has questions and wants answers.. i think her overall hope is that they dont answer her questions and she finds the strength to leave!
(she says sometimes shed like them to df her but i think thats just coz she wants to go so much!.

Hey, Cord!
Your friend might get answers from the elders. Well, sort of answers. I'll give you an example. I asked my former elders why there were child molesters among us and kept them secret. They said that they could help me to understand why it was OK.
Talking to elders can be like talking to a stone wall. Does your friend have her entire family in jw organization? Then I can understand how tough it is. If not, getting out is easy. Just write a DA (disassociation) letter, and start a great new life. It is much better than being a jw. But if all her family is jws, tell her if she can just "fade out" - meaning gradually be inactive and move away. She can still keep good relationship with her family and she can live a better life then being a jw.

Anyone think that the 'Secret Subcultures' will bust up the Borg?
by AK - Jeff ini mean there seem to be several fairly well rooted sub-groups operating within the ranks of the witnesses now.
many under the continuing premise that it is the 'truth'.
i know of a couple.

I think it is true to any religion. And I think many of them are inactive because of that.
Didn't the WTS try to DF those people not too long ago?

by mrsjones5 inhow many here sew?

Um....I think I kinda do.
I know how to sew by hands, but using a sewing machine is not easy for me. I took 3 lessons a year and a half ago. I can make very simple things, but I still need to work on sewing straight lines.
Speaking of chili, I can make a very serious chili and BBQ ribs.

Women What do you Look for in Men
by LouBelle inright so being single and being free to look and date the male species i'm sad to announce that there really is no much of a choice out there.
perhaps i'm not looking in the right places, or perhaps i just don't do it for these men.
anyway what do you look for in a guy.

Wow, this thread is so long. I wonder if anyone is going to read my reply.
I used to look for what he could offer me more than what I can offer. I was in my 20s. In my late 20s, I met a man who is so talented but very shy. He was not manly or dashing, but just NICE and shy. Then I realized that I like that quality: being nice. By the time I met my husband, I knew exactly what I should look for.
Love should go both ways; you give some and you take some. But never think that you should take more than you give. And you shouldn't be coerced/required to give more than you take.

Does watchtower society support any charity??
by Podiatrist injust wondering, do you know of any?
?.
-
sunshineToo
They don't support any charity. They think of their door-to-door service as the greatest charity work. In fact if you were a real sincer jw, you shouldn't be a part of any charity work. Rather you should conduct a bible study to convert that person. At least that was how my congregation thought then.
