In my own case they were prejudiced from the start. I was not prepared to cave in and apologize for something which most people would have considered to be kindness. My sin? Repaying a particularly caring carer with a meal for looking after my late wife. I was brought up to be kind and considerate to all and the elders warped perception of acts of kindness made no allowance for my 'kind nature'. Looking back, the elders could not 'show any mercy' beacuse to do so would be to admit to their own failings/shortcomings. Catch 22...Elders are aloof and unwilling or unable to mitigate their own judgmentalism....Judicial committees are thus flawed from the start........

what are your thoughts on this quote from the elders book?
by aboveusonlysky in'in order to extend mercy, the committee must be convinced that the wrongdoer has a changed heart condition and that he has a zeal to right the wrong and is absolutely determined to avoid it in the future.'.
shepherd the flock page 91. i remember this is one of the first things that concerned me as an elder because it seemed to sound like a person is guilty until proven innocent rather than 'love believes all things', especially given the word 'convinced' appears in bold.. then in a training video one elder said something like 'unless we are convinced of repentance the shepherd the flock book says we must disfellowship'.
that was the begining of the end for me as i thought surely true christians would reason the other way round and show mercy wherever possible.. any thoughts?.

Do they know what 7.5 billion dead bodies look like?
by jambon1 inin their sick and twisted bubble that they live in, the jehovahs witnesses clearly have no idea about the logistical nightmare of disposing of 7.5 billion corpses.. when i heard an elder once say that it will be a joy to clear away the wicked from the earth, he actually had a smile on his face.. can they even begin to imagine what 7.5 billion dead men, women, children & babies looks like?.
"let the eye feel no sorrow".
sick bastards..

The JWs have failed to convince others by reasoning, studying, meetings, mags, or special talks. Does this mean that all non Jws are evil or deserving of death? No. It just exposes the ineptness and divisiveness of the Jw mentality. Perhaps it's time for 'the very stones to cry out' with the real truth of it all.....

The Great October 2016 Invite to the Sunday Meeting campaign ...
by freddo inwell how's it going round your way?
massive increase of interested ones?
did you even know it was supposed to be happening?

Ah, that explains why a weekend ago various JWs were going up and down the street (past my home) and then back again, making sure everyone had been called on (except me). This weekend..?..Nothing..! Job done..

perhaps it might be for the best..as it'll will deny the terrorist Muslim the limelight of martydom.....since they seem to thrive in committing attrocities and claiming 'responsibility'....just a thought..

Counting time
by Emma ini may not have put this in the correct spot, but i do think it's scandalous the way time gets counted now.
i've seen a cart at the edge of our farmer's market, never anyone close enough to talk.
yesterday was a drizzly day and there were two carts set up, covered in plastic, "witnessing" on their own.

Seem to remember when we had a service meeting item, , some years ago, which dealt with when, and how, time could be counted. It was really quite strict and was clearly aimed at counting only effective contact hours. Nowadays, anything goes! I've seen carts where brothers/sisters are just hanging around, yapping to each other, yet no member of the public go near...Is this really what the 'lifesaving , preach at it urgently, the time is reduced, how will they hear unless someone bears witness..etc ' work has been reduced to? It's nothing more than a sham, a pathetic token gesture, a nod to those who in years past, endured ridicule, hardship, and hostility as they, no doubt sincerely, sought out those who were searching, and might listen to the 'KIngdom Message'. What a mess it has become these days! They'll be counting time for putting on make up and using the loo prior to going out with their trolleys/carts next...anything to boost their Kingdom Hall Credibility Factor....

What is the purpose of life?
by slimboyfat inwhile reading the magazines the other day it occurred to me that jws never really had a very good answer to that question.
because it was aimed at young people and it said something along the lines, "if you believe in god you have a purpose, but if you don't believe in god your life has no purpose or meaning".
i think that is a faulty analysis of the situation.

Update: Got my Judicial Committee cancelled
by Sanchy inoriginal thread here.
update: so, after the meeting i had with elders a few weeks ago as outlined in my original thread, they met as a body and once again called to tell me that after considering my case they still thought a judicial committee should be held against me and asked to be there "thursday at 7:30".
all of this, i remind you, because of posting coc on facebook.

You regretted posting it on fb....etc etc...so you betrayed yourself and played by their rules..but..you may yet have trouble in store as you quoted their own rule book to them.. and in effect, gave them counsel/reproof..... This book is not for your eyes and they will now know you have ventured into forbidden fruit territory. Naughty! you will face a jc....sooner rather than later. yep, the wolves are circling, but you have fed them!

Judicial Committees should have an option to be public
by EndofMysteries inthinking back to how they went from votes by the congregation under russels time to private closed doors in rutherfords time so as to not waste time, etc, of other members.
if it really wasn't to hide things from the org, it would have an option for the person it's against to have it open to the public.
a time announced for any members or the person to bring any they want to attend.

Among the many flaws judicial committees have is the resultant damage done by gossip etc as to why a person was df. In my own case, I was found guilty of 'brazen conduct'...because I refused to acknowledge that it was wrong ( in their eyes at least ) to repay a kindness done to my disabled wife (now deceased) by taking a carer out for a thank you meal. They refused to accept that a man can be friends with a woman without taking things further. Crazy. I have many plutonic friendships and have never taken things further even if the opportunity presented itself. It is the elders who are guilty of seeing people as unable to have either self control or show kindness without strings.. At the jc I defended my actions ( to defend oneself always sets you up for a guilty verdict, I've since realised ) by using scripture and the 'do unto others as you would have them do to you' etc etc..but to no avail. In the 4 years since I've learned that rumours spread that the carer concerned was expecting my baby (!) and that I'm now an apostate etc etc. No truth in either rumour, but because I have no contact with the rest of my ex cong I cannot correct such lies. Therein lies the injustice. The elders are able to exercise control over facts and reason for their actions. I however have no means of setting out facts. A public hearing would have proved enlightening and would have enabled input from others.

I'm getting baptized
by BlackWolf ini know i've started similar topics before but this time i'm serious.
my parents have been constantly pressuring me and after yesterday's watchtower study they asked me if i was going to be baptized this summer... and i said yes.
i probably should have thought about it more before making a final decision, but they're pretty much forcing me to do it anyway.

..'maybe when I'm an adult'?....you're in no position to decide anything. should you get baptized?...asked and answered...by yourself!
