ok......it has taken me lots of soul searching to put this post up (it contains some facts i dont really feel all that comfortable putting up).

but i will try and leave out here for as long as i can.. it is an email i have sent to my dad.

Your strength of character shines thru your words. And is a moving testament to the resilience of the human spirit.
msil,you have a wonderful talented writing style. Higher ed. has nothing to to do with what you already have. I'm with naeblis here. Your story needed to be told and thank you for sahring and trusting us enough to do so.
Your experience reminded me of something Elie Weisel wrote,another true survivor.

How long out? Why still here?

some posters to this board, who perhaps are bored posters, have been out of the wts for a long while, some for decades.

i think i understand why you still feel the need to meet here but just wished to hear from you personally.. how long have you been out?

why do you still feel the need to discuss and involve yourselves with jw issues?

I agree,it wouldnt work for you and I. You helped jog my memory about the poor quiet folk sitting in the back rows. I hadn't given that much thought until I came on these boards. The whys and wherefores.I really had to be one blind dub to never even think of that then. I admit I was like a lemming.

100 Good Samaritans needed

two of this board's, and h2o's before it,long time and well known participants have fallen on desperately hard times.

if they could set up pay pal accounts and enough of us could contribute say $20 - $50 per month it would help them though their hardship.. these two people have helped many escape from the wts and i know for sure have given money and other material help to those in need, even when they could not afford it.. if you can help, send an email to: [email protected].

you need not include any particulars of who you are etc, just an indication that you could support this and how much you could send.

I share your feelings hun. Unc comf fark,I have to add kent Md jan ,wasasis and others too numerous to name.
They entered my life and helped me change it for the better.
Actually fark gave me my first good butt kicking lol. And it was Unc who I ran crying too :>(hopin fark sees this and makes him smile-just a leetle bit) All the ownderful men and all the strong beautiful women Ive met,then and continue to now.

Compassionate Atheists

i read this letter in the editorials/letters secion of the new york times today (oct. 21, 2001, pg.

i thought you guys would find it interesting.. atheists at ground zero.

Hi rex,
I most certainly mentioned that there are christians who help from the heart! And from personal experience ,one org. of them really assists others freely,no covert agenda and that's some of the wonderful folks I know at catholic Charities. One of the things they do that impressed me is they have brought people off the streets,the poor elderly into our clinics for medical aid at their expense.They help find housing etc.
I've read of your experience of helping from the heart. i think thats wonderful.
My point is that I know many many atheists/humanists do the same. Scriptural injunction is not a prerequisite to having a conscience. One that reaches out and helps fellow humans in need.
History is loaded with christian sociopaths. Give me a break.
atheists have no agenda,as much as you'd like to think so. Unlike some of the proselytizing christians who consider their message part of the 'help'
I know people raised in agnostic/atheists households that are exemplars in helping and kindness. And they have no agenda.
You are dissing non christians by implying that altruism is not amongst their qualities.
And FWYI,I do know many types of folks in many denominations. I grew up among many diverse cultures and beliefs. I know them intimately from childhood up. I have shared in Seders,had friends that were Russian orthodox , RC's(which half my family is) to name a few.
You dont know my life so it is a baseless assumption for you to tell ME that I dont know xtians.
I'm always happy to hear when others assist when needed. I just dont care for the ones that do have a covert agenda whilst doing it, for the reason that oftentimes ones needing assistance are emotionally vulnerable. And easy prey at that time. I find it repugnant and unethical that some have manipulated people in that condition. hugs,Tina

Budddha Bless Afghanistan

there is a lot of ignorant afghan bashing going on here at the moment (as opposed to informed afghan bashing) and when we read the papers and see the television pictures it's little wonder why.

the world news media is on a feeding frenzy whipping up so called 'anti-terrorist'* retoric to silly levels.

(*one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter .. nelson mandela?

Ooooo Wassy is the best! What a beautiful poised intelligent classy hunk o woman! All that and humor too! lol
Unc, sis and I truly had a grand wondeful time together. The only thing I regret is its briefness. But her and I are gonna do it again. I've never been up in her neck o the woods.But that'll change heheheh.
It was a clear and windy(of course,its the Windy City,kinda like me)
evening.Zapped up to her hotel . One of the tres classy ones I may add-fit sis to a tee. I was nervous for 2 whole minutes. We met hugged and felt an immediate rapport.Chatted for a while.
We shared some wonderful gourmet Italian cuisine and talked a whole lot more.(turns out sis is a better italian cook than me too lol) Homeade mozzarella and all that!
Found out how much we had in common,had many similar views. Sis is the brightest,warmest,. Can't think of all the great adjectives Id like to use right now. We were so comfortable together.
Course w efound out we both love a well-made martini among other things :> Sis is the true treasure here. I am so very fortunate that I got to spend some time w/ her. And it is a privilege and real honor to know she is my friend.More than that,felt kinda like family you havent seen in yonks ages.

Hi dung!
Thanks! One thing I've learned on these boards is that all congs are diferent,due to the prevailing BOE and how they interpret certain policies etc. I came from a hard-core strict one compared to many others. And I know from some still there that they still apply good standing as being active. Maybe many congs are lightening up a bit. Thanks again.luv,Tina
