1975 - After 26 years isn't it time to move on?
by digderidoo ini'm relatively new on this site...but one subject i've noticed that seems to create alot of interest is that of 1975.. our family became witnesses it 1983 so i wasn't around at the time.
forgive me if i do not understand why many were so angry with the wts at the time.. i understand the point that the society blamed individual witnesses and didn't take any responsibility themselves.
i can see how witnesses got angry over that.. but, what i do not understand is why many still research into what the society said, or didn't say, or insinuated.

Hi larc,
yes,I agree with you. She knows,,I wanted to show how the indoctrinated mind works, how they obfuscate, make the (il)logical evasions that you so clearly mentioned,,in short, their dishonesty.
It's so very sad,,,,,,,I very much appreciate your input!! Thanks and regards,Tina -

1975 New Info
by AlanF init means that within relatively few years we will witness the fulfillment of the remaining prophecies that have to do with the "time of the end.".
the lead article "the finest work on earth" in the october 1967 km (p. 1) continued the theme of preaching with a sense of urgency:.
the sense of urgency was effective in getting some students to make a decision.

Volunteering at a house of evil
by tergiversator ini did something new today.
my college arranged for several different volunteer projects in the area that you could sign up for, from trail clean-up to working at a homeless shelter to visiting elderly people.
through the vagaries of fate, i ended up on one that visited a small clothing and food pantry operated by the area churches' ecumenical council.. so there i was, sorting packages of donated socks by children's sizes, not ten feet from where there were *religious* pamphlets (one of them mentioned god once, i think) in a small, discreet display, on such false religious topics such as how to deal with the violent death of a loved one.

Hi T,
WTG!!!
I volunteer as time allows at one of the veteran's administration hospitals....I love the people I meet,I learn so much from them. They give me more than I give them...... I know you're going to get so much out of your volunteering too! hugs,Tina -

fp,
You're the one splitting hairs and ignoring my question,,,,,I was a witness most of my life-pioneered,dont tell me that not reporting fs is ok,and it sure does affect your standing, privileges, whether one is considered spiritually,weak.....and yes it is mandatory if you want to have a good reputation etc.
Join not in the sense that you think, for many join simply means having ones name on a list for scheduling the voulunteer time, nothing more. You obviously know nothing about real volunteer work,,,now Iasked you What organizations are approved by the wts?
larc defined it quite well as a requirement,Now the WTS approved List please?
Thanks for your help larc, seems she's just avoiding an honest answer to me...and btw,yes you do recruit, you;re goal at the door is a rv(whih you said you do) leading to a bible study.which leads to joining the org-yes dear You recruit,,,,You're not talking to people here who dont know the deal,,,T -

Greetings,
I asked about approved volunteer organizations/ What does the wts allow you to do or join? The practice of rv's and door-door, is not volunteer work-that's something the society says you HAVE to do to remain 'in good standing'. Let's make this a hypothetical situation-pretending that you had time, what volunteer organization would the wts allow you to be part of? Homeless shelters? Soup Kitchens? Safe houses for women&children? your local hospital?
This is not about what I like,I'm asking for an honest answer, what would the wts let you do? I'd like to know so I can print out the list of approved organizations you give me to show somebody. Thanks,Tina -

Hi fp,
You missed my point. It was that after being in a group that stifled ones feelings and autonomy, such as the wts, that one indeed needs to have time for oneself first,to sort thru issues, clean out all the wts garbage that's in their heads(ESPECIALLY women) I still believe not doing that first,is a form of denial - Time is needed (and no its not at all selfish to put ones recovery first) to learn how to re-socialize-new social skills, communication skills, support groups,or theraputic intervention if needed .There's plenty of time to volunteer for org after that..........I did query you in another post about volunteerism,,,,,you stated you're an active jw-can you tell me what organizations you volunteer at-and if the wts had some new light or policy change about using your free time to volunteer for any other organizations? thanks,Tina
