  Gary B. has to be one of the best writers online!! His sense of irony,parody,humor are outstanding!! I often go back and read his work..Skep Inq is a great mag,I get it regularly,it helps sharpen critical thinking skills..thanks for the post Tina

  Window Cleaners?

  like a lot of others here, i gave higher education a miss when i left school (1980).

  under the encouragement of the society i pioneered for three years instead!.

  now i clean windows for a living.

  It's never too late to go back and finish college. Some of my classes had folks in their 60's ...and they really made the classes more enjoyable. We probably learned just as much from them as the course itself! regards,Tina

  Sheep - why do people keep them?

  the bible story of the lost sheep is something we have heard from childhood and it is usually told in the context of the great love shown by the good shepherd, we find it in luke:.

  *** rbi8 luke 15:4-6 ***.

  what man of you with a hundred sheep, on losing one of them, will not leave the ninety-nine behind in the wilderness and go for the lost one until he finds it?

  File lawsuit or not?

  when i moved my family after leaving the jehoagies schmitnesses, i changed my phone number, and made sure it was unlisted.

  little did i know that i would soon be receiving a call out of the blue from a jw.. now, this was a woman that i had worked with at one time and we were pretty good friends, so a few years later, when she called, i was kind of glad to hear from her.

  the problem was, how did she get my phone number.

  with all the confrontation/negativity on the board these last few weeks, maybe we all need to sit back and have a drink, or a cup of tea or coffee, if alcohol's not for you.. seriously, i'm not trying to pretend that i haven't gotten caught up in the negativity at times, or trivialize important issues/feelings, but things haven't been as fun, lately.

  i've noticed a change even in the short time i've been posting.

  i didn't start this topic to point fingers or to act like my opinion is somehow special, but wouldn't it be nice for all of us to see an increase in civility?.

  i love the book lists on amazon; i get lost in them for hours.

  recently someone asked me for book recommendations, and i thought it would be fun if we shared our lists of top ten books that helped us think our way out of the jw dogma.

  im putting aside the obvious ones, like crisis of conscience and apocalypse delayed.. heres my list, in the order i discovered them as best i can recall.. ginny.
