Issue Facing Apostates
by Mishnah inmost of the stuff posted here is negative, hateful, and blasphemous against god.
even if many of you are right in saying that the jws are wrong on many and important issues, that does not make you right.
so unless you are convinced that there is no biblical god you are facing serious trouble when you die or if the lord comes during your lifetime.

H2O and all that ...PLEASE READ!!!!!
by Jang infolks, i know some of you feel a little peeved with the old h2o but i don't think you have been fair to the new one.
there is and will be a different attitude there and i have been assured of this by both rick and fd2.
i would like to encourage everyone here to cross post on h2o in the various forums .... let's make as many places as we can available for those who need support and questions answered .... theo nly wat to do that is let your past animosities go and think of those coming behind you.. if you have problems there then there is a forum you can post your complaints to and suggestiosn on what needs changing ... i just feel with the number of people here who could help those who come into h2o (and tishies board0 that we need to reach out a little more ..... go over and try it out folks and support others there too .......... http://www.aimoo.com/forum/freeboard.cfm?id=311102.

Volunteers to help with the site...
by Simon ini'm sure you've all noticed that we have grown quite a bit over the last few months and seem to get busier every week with more people joining every day.. while i do my best to read and monitor all the threads on the forum to make sure that no one causes trouble it is becoming very difficult to do this all the time.
with this in mind, i'd like to ask for some volunteers to help keep an eye on things who i will setup with some extra permissions.. i don't intend for the forum to be 'ruled over with an iron fist' or anything like that.
it would really be so that we could respond quickly if anyone started causing trouble (eg.

Ditto what expat said.
Dear Simon,
While I appreciate that you need assistance(and I'm happy to help in any way )I wouldnt be surprised if those who jump on the moddy bandwagon arent former mods from other places.
I can think of a few posters who already have tried to get reasonable posters to do things their way. What I read is just too much power for anyone to have over a members postings. And as much as we'd like evryone to be fair, different people have differnt opinions and values on what constitutes what's Ok and not Ok.
(sense of foreboding)
But let me take this opportunity to thank you SImon for allowing me in your 'home' here. I've gotten so much from this board.Best wishes,Tina

Sat. Dist. Conv.--Cracking the whip!
by LostMyReligion ini have put in my final day at this year's test of posterior endurance---saturday at the district convention, 2001. i took quite a few notes today, because some had specifically asked about saturday's program.
i hope all will be suitably edified by them.
do not just listen to bits and pieces of the program, but to the whole thing.

Hi jan,
While I appreciate ministering to exjw's is your lifes work,it's not mine. Im not a crusader.
Others have brought up the very points I would have.
People who want help/info will find it when they're ready.
I also dont agree with h20's agenda of reform.
I didnt like ricks parting shot to me-let alone the silly fpp.Nor did I appreciate the verbal abuse he heaped on my friends there. His parting shot to Ginny was especially nasty and made my mind up for me.
The time factor. Most people are not interested in my perspective anyway.Especially die-hard christians.Let me quote some of the FPP: "to create an enviornment that promotes a strong relationship with jehovah...." now why would I return to a place like that? I will not promote the belief of myth and fantasy or supernatural entities. So lets be honest,I wouldnt even be welcome there.
I have helped and feel I continue to do so by participation here. Anyone is free to mail me if they want too. Tina

McVeigh vs Death Penalty
by Amazing ini am a policitcal conservative, at least a fiscal conservative and sociel moderate.
i support the death penalty, but i agree that our judicial system needs to overhaul how wwe treat criminals to achieve better rehabilitation results.
and of course, withhold the death penalty in cases where there could be doubt.. in mcveigh's case, i believe that he deserves the death penalty.

Hi mark,
McV does not deserve this folkhero status you are giving him.
Other social injustices dont have much to do with this case.
It would be the height of fairness and compassion to reserve that empathy for the victims and survivors.
I find nothing noble about people, whatever their cause/issue,using such militancy to make their statement.Peace,Tina -

Hello rex.is that you wordly witness? sounds like it lol.
And you couldn't be more wrong about humanism. 'Fatal flaw,no moral guideline'. Fallacious statement.
Bible-thumpers always promote this wacky idea that anyone not believing in your biblical god cannot be moral people.
Humanists adhere to principles of tolerance, ethical behaviors, responsibility, reason, compassion, rational thought, factual evidence, scientific method of inquiry, justice, fairness ,altruism.
With the premise that we can work together to seek solutions for humankinds betterment.
History shows that it's been the bible/church believers that have fought AGAINST such humanistic thought. They've been banished, executed, tortured by christians for challenging and criticizing religious dogma.
Humanists dont promote the ideology "Believe /think MY way(read biblical) or YOU DIE. You'll find that genocidal mindset in christianity.
No the fatal flaw is the intolerant, judgemental, discriminating,"absolute moralism' of the bible. Christianity has NOT proved that it follows a course of altruism and service to others. Looking at it history from a moral/ethical standpoint show quite the contrary.
You're moralizing judgemental intolerant post is a great example of this. Keep preaching, show us the love and tolerance christians like YOu show for those like us. Tina -

Hi crossroads,
"Everyone is saying that McVeigh is sick".....uh no they're not.
I certainly didn't see that in this thread either. The American criminal justice system uses 2 tests to determine if someone was in such a state of mind at the time of their crime.
The M'Naughten and the ALI-(American Law Institute)
M'Naughten requires a defendent to show total mental impairment while ALI only requires a defendent to show that he lacked'substantial capacity' to conform his conduct to the requirements of law.
McV fell under neither rubric.
(btw the legal definition is not the same as the medical clinical definiton of 'sick'.
Just a thought here. Tina -

Re:Did /Do Elders enjoy power/control
by ladonna inwhen i think back to being in the wtbts i can vividly remember the elders and their weilding of power.. as an adult, and in hindsight, i can now look back in total distaste and disgust at the power and control these men exercised over our lives with 'apparent' enjoyment.. i would like any former or current elders to explain the actual feelings you had when exercising this control.. was it exhilirating?
or was it painful?.
i would also like responses from non elders as to how you actually felt on the other end of this control situation.. la donna ana

Hi seeker,
You're right we do tend to focus on the negative at times. Especially on emotionally charged topics.
In fairness, there were a few decent men among the elders. Bro PB comes to mind.
What as struggle it must have been for those like him and yourself. Trying to maintain the status quo while keeping personal integrity and fairness. I know men like that tried their best to be helpful and loving. Just weren't enuff of them around my parts. Also seemed like these men burned out rather quickly too. I remember 3 of the best guys ever stepping down in 1 year!! What a loss it was for the cong. Regards,Tina -

Hi Amazing,
No problem. I understand,,this is an emotionally charged issue isn't it? :>
And I most certainly appreciate your perspective. I apologize for the strong tone that came across and have edited it out of my respect for you. Thanks,Tina
