most of the stuff posted here is negative, hateful, and blasphemous against god.

even if many of you are right in saying that the jws are wrong on many and important issues, that does not make you right.

so unless you are convinced that there is no biblical god you are facing serious trouble when you die or if the lord comes during your lifetime.

I dont deny christian organizations have done a bit of good.(historically they did this to convert the 'savages',didnt they? and what happened to their peoples and cultures who wouldnt submit?) Volunteerism can be found among folks like judaism,and other non-christian denominations.

Help! Help! My son wants to tell elders about me

i am floundering!.

today my jw son told me that he had seen an email in our family account written to me from an exjw.

it contained very little, but enough to let him know that i was in contact with outsiders about my doubts and feelings.

McVeigh vs Death Penalty

i am a policitcal conservative, at least a fiscal conservative and sociel moderate.

i support the death penalty, but i agree that our judicial system needs to overhaul how wwe treat criminals to achieve better rehabilitation results.

and of course, withhold the death penalty in cases where there could be doubt.. in mcveigh's case, i believe that he deserves the death penalty.

during the last 12 year i have been doing a lot of research about mainly the chronology of jw about the year 1914. my family are still in and very active and i serve still as elder.

my research has make me dropped the whole chronology about the year 1914 and also the authorities of dfs/gb.

Just a thought here.
Since you're both JW's,no matter how intelligent and independent she is, those notions have been operating under the headship rule.
Im sure this has limited her 'independence'.
Instead of viewing her as a supplement' or a compliment' trying viewing her as her own whole person.
As an elder you must have given so many talks on women being in subjection. Get rid of the oppressing archaic notion.
Maybe if she's treated as an individual and EQUAL person,she could get confident in her thinking abilities. Let her challenge your decisions or ways of doing things. Empower her,maybe that'll translate over into seeing how JW doctrine is so full of baloney. And she won't fear looking into the truth about the truth. regards,Tina

Welcome to the forum.
Goals are good to have. We must also be realistic about them.
As we live in a technocracy,more education and training is needed just to supply life's neccesities. Please do think about attending college. It opens up a whole new world of ideas. Learning about people,other cultures,etc. Anthropology is great course of study to become acquainted with this.
Australia is a great place,hope to go there myself one day soon.
I'm going to make a personal study/research about it's aboriginal peoples (if I cant find a local college offering the course when I can attend) There's lots to learn about OZ(as the Aussies here call it)
There are several here on this forum,wonderful people. Hope you get to meet them and know them.

Actually,it's not over. There are many more in federal prisons awaiting the same execution. They dont exist in a vacuum. This isn't just aa occasional event. BTW,those who think cp is wrong may take offense. Regards,Tina

It's YOu that just doesnt get it. And of course with such a closed mindset,NOTHING is going to sink into it.
"Repeating what Ive heard from my heroes?" Wrong.
Then all of history must be my hero. History is an ongoing chronicle of the past. Our successes and our failures as humans.
And if you read history objectively and critically you would find the problems you mention have always been part of that history. There is nothing new under the sun there.
What history shows is that those who adhere to religious dogma are responsible for much of the crimes against humanity. You're moral absolutism requires you to judge and kill those who dissent.
It shows that using an ancient book that promulgates black and white thinking is nothing but destructive to many. That it's simply all about power and control.
It shows that you would deny basic human and civil rights to all.
Case in point-Whatever a woman chooses to with her body is HER decision. It's between her and her conscience.You have no right to her conscience. It's a deeply personal thing.
Life is much more complex than your simplistic and archaic notions of right and wrong.
Humanism isn't a belief system which moralizes like intolerant judgemental bible thumpers. It takes in the whole human family,benefiting ALL with ethics tolerance and rational ideas.
It is an attitude not a religious moral base.
I do NOT lie,you lie,your post is a lie. You can't revise history,tho Im sure you'd like too. It speaks for itself. And as such christianity condemns itself.

folks, i know some of you feel a little peeved with the old h2o but i don't think you have been fair to the new one.

there is and will be a different attitude there and i have been assured of this by both rick and fd2.

i would like to encourage everyone here to cross post on h2o in the various forums .... let's make as many places as we can available for those who need support and questions answered .... theo nly wat to do that is let your past animosities go and think of those coming behind you.. if you have problems there then there is a forum you can post your complaints to and suggestiosn on what needs changing ... i just feel with the number of people here who could help those who come into h2o (and tishies board0 that we need to reach out a little more ..... go over and try it out folks and support others there too .......... http://www.aimoo.com/forum/freeboard.cfm?id=311102.

I agree about the 'holy fpp' And it's truly a shame as we exjw's who walk divergent paths had and still have much to offer.
The fpp is an outline that selectively values the thoughts and feelings and expressions of one group. Effectively repressing the ideals and thoughts of others who view issues differtly.It's discriminatory.
If R looked closely at how social change/reform comes about ,he would see that it comes from arguement and debate over the status quo.That challenging common assumptions makes people think,possibly reassess their stance. I find it funny that given our national(usa) belief that all men are created equal,how do you rationalize discrimination on that board? That others can't have an equal voice?.
At the end of the day,it's just a cyber kingdom hall.
My interest was and is the human factor anyway. I felt I did some good in simply acknowledging and supporting others. One doesn't need a 'biblical filter' to help an individual. oh well,its a moot issue now anyway.

Request for Opinions

i requested that my sons (both jws) come to my home for a family meeting today.

had nothing to do with religion.

both of them know i don't go to meetings and that i have intellectual disagreement with wtbs.. son #2 said that before we begin the meeting, he would like to offer up prayer.
