Why I don't Have Children
by teenyuck ini just read luckylucy's thread and wanted to tell my story.
i also want to ask a question: why are women who have children viewed more favorably than women who don't?
especially if the choice is to not have children.

For me, it was something that I didn't have a choice in. I had to have an emergency hysterectomy when I was 28 because of endometreosis. I would have liked to have had children, but it just didn't turn out that way. If a person decides not to have children, I certainly feel it's their right. I sure think it's alot better than people who have children and then not taking responability for them. That's what really upsets me!

Thanks Jess! I didn't get a chance to see DeDe's post. I just got back yesterday from my brothers. Been away helping with the clean up. Believe me, it's a mess. They determined it was a F3 that hit. My brother, sister-in-law and I were on the news with the governor and president of fema! I didn't get to see it though, was too tired to stay up and watch it!!! Just glad to be home and get some rest. I'm so tired.

Xandria, how sweet of you to do that!!! Thank-you for being so thoughtful to the ones that are in need at this time!!! You know they'll appreciate it!!! Fortunately my brother had insurance and still has his family. Alot of people lost everything, even family members and didn't have insurance. The destruction was unbelieveble. I've never seen anything like it in my life. The high winds had even killed dear and thrown them in the fields....hugh 2x4's sticking in the ground everywhere that had fell from the sky....tin in the trees....you just can't imagine. When we finally got to my brothers house, I grabbed him and broke down crying, it was just too much for me.

Thank you guys for ALL your kind words! I wanted to clarify something though. CC and I didn't get any damage to our place. We had storms and a tornado warning, but we were okay. My brother in another county over is the one that was hit. We are all very grateful also that he and his family are alright, but just heart broken over the little boy.
It was scary to see how close the tornado came to his home!!! Just so very thankful that they are okay! My sister-in-law said that she couldn't get the screams of all the people out of her head. She said that it all happened so fast, that they didn't even realize that the roof had blown off!!! My brother said that he could feel the wind pulling him though. And yes, I do think he is a great guy to hover over his family trying to protect them like he did. He is a terrific guy folks, would give you the shirt off his back, works hard for his family, has the best heart.
We got in late last night, we were so tired. We called my brother before we went to bed and he said that the governor had dropped down from a hellicopter right after we left, said that help on the way to help with the clean up. He was on the news shaking his hand. My sister in law was on the news too telling her experience!
Thanks again everyone for all your sweet words of concern. Sure do appreciate it so much!!!

My brother and his family are just thankful to be alive! Sunday night with tornado warnings out through the state of Tn. About 7:30 that night, my brother went out on the porch to look at the lightning. He said it was like a strobe light with all the flashing and then right in front of him he saw a tornada in the distance. When he saw his neighbors car lift up like a feather and the house explode, he ran inside, grabbed his 2 children, his wife and they hit the bathtub. He layed on top of them and prayed for their safety. He said that his ears began to pop from the presure and the house began to shake. Then the windows blew out and then the roof came off. Next thing he knew it was all over. Said it lasted about 6 seconds. People in the neighborhood were running around screaming, looking for family members that were missing. He had a rental house right next door. It was completely gone! There were 5 people in that home and the little 10 year old boy that lived there died. They found him about 100 yards away. His mother and brother are still in the hospital in critical condition. Many people are still missing. You just can't imagine the devastion unless you are right there to see what the damage looks like. It's like a bomb exploded. In my newphews bedroom, a 2x4 was sticking through the wall like a toothpick. 2x4's were sticking in the ground that had fallen from the sky. It was totally unreal. CC and I were with them yesterday and helped them go through their things and clean up yesterday.
I just wanted to add something that really touched me yesterday. There is plenty of good in this world. Two men showed up yesterday and started putting a new roof on my brothers house. We didn't know them, they just wanted to help. After they finished the roof and started to leave, *worked all day* my brother offered to pay them and they wouldn't take any money. Just said, *Do something for someone when they are in need.* Reminded me of that movie, *Pay it Forward*
Needless to say, yesterday was a day of tears and emotions.
