How does the Govering Body get enlightenment?

from the earliest of times of the catholic church's ecumenical councils were used to make major changes to its doctrinal direction.

decisions were made by bishops, they were ratified by the pope ... and it was done.

and the laity had to accepted them or not.. and while splinter catholic religions accepted most of these councils, non-trinitarian faiths which developed latter (of which jehovah's witnesses are apart) did not.

Yeah, that's definitely a lie. I have heard a couple individual JWs have that understanding but my family certainly has not understood it that way. If what he said was true I really wouldn't have such a problem with it.

When he says the elders will meet with the disfellowshipped person to "help" them he means read a couple scriptures to them. The elders know nothing of psychology and therefore are unqualified to help.

Thanks Slim, that was kind of the impression I had after looking through this interactive book. It is actually very extensive.

After reading the last few days about the "big changes", I followed that up with looking through this Enjoy Life Forever book. I will say again the "changes" were minor.

The Enjoy Life Forever book still is full of micromanagement of people and speculation on timelines. This isn't a real Bible study taken in context, more of an organizational manual with cherry picked scriptures out of context to try and fit their needs.
