jam,
I never could grasp the idea of sin even as a beleiver, all I always saw were cells simply deteriorating.
in my search for the truth and the burning desire to become free from all forms of dogma and wishful thinking.
i have approached my first crossroads in my life, should i continue to believe in a god or not?.
currently i am leaning toward agnosticism, but all the suffering in the world, all the loss and pain in my own life makes it hard for me to simply let go of the idea and hope that at the end justice will prevail, that one day god can make it all good.. .

Interesting stats
He stated ‘the JW’s do not interpret the bible, the bible interprets itself” he later read Hebrews 12:26: 26 At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, "Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens."
This has been occurring since 1914, for one century Jehovah has been shaking the earth. The organization will NOT BE SHAKEN in the GT and during the big A.
FINAL TALK
Work Hard to Remain in Jehovah’s Teaching!
The DO mentioned how in Mexico they allowed a 6 year old girl to get baptized.
He ended the talk by saying that this year’s DC will bring big surprises for all JW’s, STAY TUNED...

The human race will cease to exist. We will never know because we'll be long dead.
Very true, because evolution does not distinguish any species and thus the strongest always survive. But we also have to be honest to ourselves and admit that no one has the answer to the source of life and all the energy that surrounds us. At the same time, I also understand that an entity like an all-powerful God with an unlimited amount of energy is a more complicated and improbable hypothesis than having no God.

Non religious people have more focus to look at solutions more objectively IE not searching for deistic/theological solutions, but concentrating on the humanistic causes.
That is what I mean! When take out the God of the gaps, we realize that we can do more to bring change.
Can we go beyond what we have accomplished? How can we bring a positive change into this world as a species?
But mankind suffers from a darker side as well, i.g. greed, lust, wrath, envy, pride, etc… I also suspect that this is the reason why the God of any literature reflects these human features.

We can’t force people to be/do good
We can’t magically eradicate all sickness
We can’t stay young a longer time
We can’t end wars, rape, murder, famines, etc.
The human race came up with the idea of a God to fix all the above issues just mentioned, but I frankly have not read or heard of any solutions from people like the late Hitchens, Carl Sagan, Dawkins, Sam Harris, etc…
Now, do you think that the human race will be able to fix most of the problems it faces? Since the proof for a God is as close as to a flying teapot, what solutions can nonbelievers bring to the table?

Thank you all for your great replies!
My statement about “No one is born an atheist. “was made by Ron Rhodes.
Oh Gawd, you said:
1. The same response could be used both ways. Although the premise itself is false.
Very true, all believers have is simply assumptions and the idea of a God that has changed throughout the ages and it is still evolving in the hearts and mind of the people who choose to believe.
Thank you for confirming that I will survive the journey. Right now in my life it is hard that I cannot be true to myself in front of my wife and family, but I need to keep digging and find the answer that is true to me. I just don’t buy the idea of a God that takes millions of years to fix things or even thousands of years - if you think like a creationist-
The road is steep and the price I must pay is high, but the journey will lead me to the freedom that I want!
Thank you cantleave and punkofnice for your input as well.

So for those of you that has passed this cycle in your journey of truth and freedom. Please help me answer the following questions and arguments that I read by Ron Rhodes.
No one is born an atheist. People choose to become atheists as much as they choose to become Christians. And no matter how strenuously some may try to deny it, atheism is a belief system. It requires faith that God does not exist.
(1) Atheist says, "There is no God."
A person would have to be omniscient and omnipresent to be able to say from his own pool of knowledge that there is no God. Only someone who is capable of being in all places at the same time - with a perfect knowledge of all that is in the universe - can make such a statement based on the facts. To put it another way, a person would have to be God in order to say there is no God.
This point can be forcefully emphasized by asking the atheist if he has ever visited the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. the library presently contains over 70 million items (books, magazines, journals, etc.). Hundreds of thousands of these were written by scholars and specialists in the various academic fields. Then ask the following question:
"What percentage of the collective knowledge recorded in the volumes in this library would you say are within your own pool of knowledge and experience?" The atheist will likely respond, "I don't know. I guess a fraction of one percent." You can then ask: "Do you think it is logically possible that God may exist in the 99.9 percent that is outside your pool of knowledge and experience?"
(2) "I don't believe in God because there is so much evil in the world."
God is dealing with the problem of evil, but in a progressive way. The false assumption on the part of the atheist is that God's only choice is to deal with evil all at once in a single act. God, however, is dealing with the problem of evil throughout all human history. One day in the future, Christ will return, strip power away from the wicked, and hold all men and women accountable for the things they did during their time on earth. Justice will ultimately prevail. Those who enter eternity without having trusted in Christ for salvation will understand just how effectively God has dealt with the problem of evil.
"Ok. Let's do it your way. Hypothetically speaking, let's say that at this very moment, God declared that all evil in the world will now simply cease to exist. Every human being on the planet - present company included - would simply vanish into oblivion. Would this solution be preferable to you?"
Formulate a solution to the problem of evil that (1) does not destroy human freedom, or (2) cause God to violate His nature (e.g., His attributes of absolute holiness, justice, and mercy) in some way. After five minutes, ask him what he came up with. Don't expect much of an answer.
i could be wrong of course , but as far as i recall 1925 was not the date of armageddon , but was the date the" princes of the earth" would be resurrected .
the princes of course were faithfull men of old such as abraham issac and jacob, anybody who had a prominent part in gods favour.. witnesses at assemblies after 1925 were constantly awaiting to welcome the resurrected princes of the earth up until the late 1950`s.
these faithfull resurrected men were to lead the rank and file into the glorious new system of christs thousand year reign.. smiddy.
Hey Nathan! Aren't you apostates suppose to be the servants and helpers of Satan's kitchen? Get with the program and sart serving... Lol :)
'the ark before noah' - curator irving finkel decodes the story of the floodit was a vast boat that saved two of each animal and a handful of humans from a catastrophic flood.. but forget all those images of a long vessel with a pointy bow the original noah's ark, new research suggests, was round.. a recently deciphered 4,000-year-old tablet from ancient mesopotamia modern-day iraq reveals striking new details about the roots of the old testament tale of noah.
it tells a similar story, complete with detailed instructions for building a giant round vessel known as a coracle as well as the key instruction that animals should enter "two by two.".
the tablet went on display at the british museum on friday, and soon engineers will follow the ancient instructions to see whether the vessel could actually have sailed.. it's also the subject of a new book, "the ark before noah," by irving finkel, the museum's assistant keeper of the middle east and the man who translated the tablet.. iiiiiiiiiiinteresting eh?
Hortensia said: that's the thing that bible believers can't accept -- that the stories in the bible are based on older similar stories from the wider area. Lots of ancient mythology, accepted as god's word by modern believers.
I just want to add that the traditions continues and people keep adding to the old. Gotta love it!!
went out with a good friend in service this morning.
my spouse and kiddos joined us.
me and my spouse are awake jws, have gotten over the initial shock and disgust with some of the lame wt doctrine, and are determined to let god direct us wherever he may (even to another church - i'm going to a baptist service tommorow).. we have fun doing a little bit of service with the kiddos, letting them watch deer, play with sticks, and write not-at-homes down.
I can honestly say that at leat 98% of active Jdubs cannot explain what the WT currently teaches and has no idea what they used to teach. People are simply hoping for their own paradise to arrive
