Self assembly chairs & evolution
by suavojr ini'm no expert and do not claim to be in regards to how evolution works but this small test did make think how all things are related and have evolved from one common ancestor.
the horrible example that i grew up hearing about a watch not being able to assemble itself or plane after a tornado, etc... dawkins would say, "well of course not" but mit seems to be on the path to make us think twice.

It is interesting to note it takes 7 hours for this experiment to work, I wonder what genes can do in billions of years? -

Here is the explanation from https://www.yahoo.com/tech/this-self-assembling-chair-from-mit-may-be-the-111860644734.html
It works like this: Researchers plopped six separate objects into a tub of water. Inside each of these objects is one or more specially designed magnets, installed at key connection points. Each magnet is made to be attracted to only its perfect match, so there’s no chance that the chair will accidentally put itself together upside down.
Think of it like Saturday night at your local bar. As the water in the tank tosses the pieces around, they bump together until each connection point is eventually united with its intended partner. Of course, both the construction of each piece and the environment it is placed in have a huge effect on the process. Researchers must consider the size, weight, and construction of each block, not to mention the turbulent force and volume of water in the tank that the whole bundle is placed in.

Thinking it through and not liking the result.
by donny intoday at work a co-worker of mine and i were having lunch at a nearby establishment.
he is what you would call a c&e christian in that he basically attends church only for the christmas and easter services, though he definitely says he believes in god.. he said that he just recently caught an episode of a crime/forensic show that featured a man from new jersey named john list who was also known locally as the "bogeyman of westfield.
" list became infamous for murdering his entire family consisting of his wife, three children and his mother on november 9, 1971. see below link for more data.. on the tv show the narrator commented there were a few reasons why he did it.

Excited about the CO visit
by StarTrekAngel induring the many years of being a jw, i could never really bring myself to be exited about the co's visit.
this has been an issue that always kept me wondering back to religions.
why could not feel the same happiness that made everyone around me cry during the sunday service?

Well, that's interesting. The titles of the talks are different from the ones I just heard. I wonder how much freedom the circuit overseer is given when deciding which talks to give?

He is given no lattitude. The outlines are assigned by the branch. The only leeway he had is local needs. It may different in another country however or possibly maybe one of you is hearing the "A" talks and one the "B" talks (one is given the first six months vist the other is given during the second six month visit)I guess that explains why at this month's CO visit he sure did not talk about the above mentioned talks. I will see if this changes next time he comes around.

It's Over Johnny....The Demise of Jehovah's Witnesses
by ctrwtf ini think i've mentioned before that from time to time my commute on the bqe takes me past the old factory buildings and the soon to be former headquarters building.
i was struck the other day with how shabby they've become.
even 25 columbia heights, still currently occupied, its facade is filthy.

Besides, the more changes the easier it is for them to imply that Jehovah's Chariot is on the move, or should we say on the run with billions in the pocket? -

Wouldn't it be nice if they'd would crash financially and disappear, but it will not happen anytime soon.
On the other hand, the information age, Google, the internet, curiosity, the apathy within the borg, the callousness and hypocrisy will continue to eat away their hold on the masses.
The exposure they are getting as an org is not helping them recruit as easy in countries where people have access to the internet.

When I first started to read about all of the sexual abuses within the borg and all the cover-ups just save face, I could not believe it. But your case like many others is a powerful testimony against this evil JW Cult. -

A hearth wrenching story, I wish you and your loved ones nothing but the best. Monsters like Dennis deserve a cozy cell in a county jail and maybe get some prison caressing. -

Thanks for that lecture, as JW's we sure are/were clueless to the realities around us.
