They're seriously expecting skilled men like joiners to spend a month there free of charge. How the heck can anyone in this economic climate who has a mortgage to pay and a family to feed afford to lose a month's wages?
Exactly, who the heck would do that. I wasted a week of vacation time for a dumb theocratic school which I did not benefit from at all. What a WASTE! -

Elders preparing for the GT?
by StarTrekAngel ini know this conversation has come up in other threads.
it is just funny that last night i received this message on my phone.
could this be elders feeling that they need to prepare and find a way to reach all brothers as quickly as possible in preparation for something?

Yep, texting gets the job done. I'm surprised (not ) people couldn't even follow the simple instruction to not reply to the messages. I'm so glad I'm done with that.

by wifibandit inseptember 21, 2016 to all congregations re: global assistance arrangement for the 2017 service year.
ps to bodies of elders:.
this postscript should not be read to the congregation, and this letter should not be placed on the noticeboard.

Finally, please note as a separate matter that this year we will not be requesting any contribution for the Traveling Overseer’s Assistance Arrangement.
Hmm.. Does this mean no more traveling overseers!! or will the full expense come locally?

The insanity continues
by FedUpJW inas if anymore proof were needed that what used to be the religion i was baptized into has ceased to exist i was asked this insane question, when i mentioned to a jdub that someone i knew was celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
are they witnesses?".
i didn't used to really think about that insane question in the past, but now that i have woke up to ttatt it is glaringly obvious that they think there can be no chance of actually knowing and getting along with anyone outside their tiny circle of conditional friends.

I am not fond of that question. When someone would ask about my family wanting to know if I had siblings I would tell them "Yes I have so and so and so and so" Then the next question would be annoying: "Are they witnesses?" or "Are they in 'the truth'?" I'd say no and then it would just get awkward. Ugghh

Around 52 minutes -
She is singing a very popular tune "En Mi Viejo San Juan" - so the lyrics have been altered.
Replaced "destino": destiny with "la vida":life
and also replaced "Diosa":Goddess with "perla": perla
So it's okay to sing songs with "unbliblical" things as long as I modify it? Lol

Awake! Magazine April 22 1970
by pale.emperor inwas doing some research this evening and i think ive found possibly the most damaging awake magazine issue the jw's could have printed.
april 22nd 1970. you can download the entire 1970 volume here: http://da-ip.getmyip.com:8080/pdf/old%20publications/?sort=d.
in this issue, the watchtower calls other religions on their hypocrisy for changing doctrine, upbeat music in their services, the clergy meddling in worldly affairs (un anyone?

The Effect
The effect upon may devout Jehovah's Witnesses has been devastating. "All these years I thought it was a sin to eat any form of blood, " explained a housewife in the mid-western United States. "Now I suddenly find out it isn't a sin to take in blood fractions. That's hard to understand."
If you are a Jehovah's Witness, can you understand how a practice that was considered by the Organization a "mortal sin" can suddenly be approved? If it was a sin five years ago, why is it not today? Many Jehovah's Witnesses cannot understand.

That's how I always dressed for service...hah.. Pretty normal here. Only some of the "older" people would sometimes wear a sport coat for service. Long sleeve shirt in 100+ degree weather, no thanks. Come to think of it, short sleeve with a tie looks weird. ....

Major congregational quake in Southern California
by Hecce inthis notice is not official yet and it should be confidential until released thru the proper channels.
a friend of mine told me about a huge elders meeting in southern california.
the subject was the relocation and dissolution of some congregations; it seems that this is the result of some project that has been going on for some time and is going to be implemented right now.. please let me know if this is happening all over the country?.

It just dawned on me...
A while back the LDC requested addresses of all publishers in each congregation to many of the congregations in our area. Of course, we sent it in not questioning what the data was for. We were later summoned to a meeting with all the elders from these congregations. The data was to see which congregations would benefit most from the new KH that would be going up through the LDC arrangement. It was interesting to see how they mapped out and color coded each home. (The showed it to us on screen)
I wouldn't doubt it if this data was collected from all congregations through the LDC arrangement - thus no official watchtower letter. Perhaps they are using all this information for the purpose of sell offs, rather than new construction.
Did any other congs. have to send in publisher addresses?
