privilege to non-JWs: a special advantage or a right
privilege to a JW : cleaning the toilets
in the time since i've left the borg behind i've had a few things hit me as to how words were used.
i'm wondering if anyone else has some similar examples, but here are some things that have made me think:.
watchtower - my whole life i saw this as a thing of protection from outside evil forces, and then when i left someone pointed out "isn't that what they used to keep people in prison".
privilege to non-JWs: a special advantage or a right

the moment i saw the "request a study" form on the site, i thought, "umm, that could be a bad thing.".
but to date, i have heard of only one case where it was used for less than genuine purposes.
that was in the case of a "game developer" who was selling crappy asset-flips on steam.
Does it track personal data of the person that does they request for the study? Like i.p. address, etc. ?
look at this graph:.
it has the % difference between the peak number of publishers and the average number of publishers for that year.
this number can only be positive.. what the graph tells us is that there is a clear trend towards hunting down inactive and/or irregular publishers.
So then it happens a lot. When I did secretary work, sometimes ppl wouldn't turn in their report and I didn't feel like hunting them down so I thought, "forget it, I'll just get it from them later". It was really a hassle dealing with everyone who didn't turn in their time. A LOT of them made up their time and I could tell. There were always those who had a pattern like the same hours, publications and studies every month.
Anyway on some months, the peak number of reports in a congregation of about 100 could go up to 150 or 160. So this must really fudge up the numbers if it happens in other congs.
I'm just glad I'm not responsible for that crap anymore. Who cares how many "hours" you did any month. Most of that stuff is made up anyway. At least I did ;-) I always rounded up. 15 hours? Let's make it 20.
this show is a.m.a.z.i.n.g!!!!.
...anyone that has been in a strict religion.
...anyone that has been in a high control cult or movement/organization.
about this time last year i uploaded a document as part of my going away post.. as stated at the time i had to lie low, and am still doing so.
sort of.
mostly.i pop up rarely to chip in when my 'ardour comes up into my nose' about something lol, but still read the leaks and back-and-forth between the members here.

i have had a conversation this evening with a jw friend i have known since childhood.
he is of the opinion that armageddon will have come and gone within the next 5 years.
are the jws now pinpointing 2020 as the supposed year?
No, 20/20 is the show that will help expose them. Hopefully this year. We need our own Leah Remini.
with all the rules that we had to live under to be a good christian it's a wonder that we aren't all neurotic basket cases like i am!
let's compile a list of transgressions and rules that we had to live by.
no rated r movies.
No extracurricular activities.
i saw this on reddit:.
https://www.reddit.com/r/exjw/comments/5mlgsm/2017_yearbook_of_jehovahs_witnesses/.
overall the numbers are better than last year (1.8% growth compared to 1.5% last year -- as i predicted ;-) ) with an increase in all major figures including 1300 more congregations (i assume this is not physical kingdom halls?).
They should publish disfellowshipped, disassociated and inactive statistics. They collect them every year with all the figures, might as well include them.
my daughter asked if anyone has heard anything about a 'big announcement' being made sometime this week in congregations in canada and possibly beyond... in her words "it's like a biggggg long thing, they cut out part of the book study for it and people heard it was a historical thing"... any ideas?
could it be the mexican branch closing or the theme of the convention?
or something else?

I did hear once that COs and their wives couldn't be overweight. I do believe it is in the guidelines for assembly speakers. Something about overweight men giving a bad appearance. Correct me if I'm wrong.
in next weeks bible study session for the cult, it says of a march 15, 1926 watchtower, “the faithful will be volunteers .
to tell this message to the people.” so i got to wondering what the ... was all about.
so i happened to have that watchtower, and this is what it actually says.. “the faithful will be volunteers in the day of god's wrath to tell this message to the people.” .
