My Old KH in the News - "Vicar fury at new home for Jehovahs"
by cofty inmy old kingdom hall at berwick-on-tweed has finally been sold to an art dealer after being on the market for a couple of years.. this week they were granted planning permission for a quick build on a site in a village just outside the town.
"rev matthew knox, vicar of tweedmouth and priest in charge of st peters church in scremerston, argued the plan should be turned down because it is not a place of christian worship as stated in the application.".
the story is the front page headline today in my local paper, the berwick advertiser.. here is a couple of gems from the article... "it is not part of churches together in berwick, it has its own translation of the bible and to my knowledge discourages independent thinking with the real threat of members being shunned by all other members if they dispute their governing bodys official doctrine.".

My Father passed away during the night
by jwfacts indad was a great man, great, despite the religion.
he was powerful, tall and intelligent, yet humble and kind.
he was an introvert, and a circuit overseer.

Your eulogy was written in a beautiful and tender way, and respectful way. It brought tears to my eyes. I hope the funeral will be of comfort to you and that your former friends will behave gracefully.
When I attended my grandmothers funeral, several sisters gave me hugs and the brother giving the talk and his wife stopped talking to me for several minutes. The former fellow elders though passed me without even giving me a glance of sympathy. Good and "bad" people everywhere.
Take care and hope you and your mother will have some contact even in the time to come.
Regards from the other side of the world.

Strange WT contradictions and backpeddling
by TR inbeth sarim:.
beth sarim was built in 1929 as a proof that the resurrection would soon take place.
(salvation, p. 311).

I am a bit surprised that Beth Sarim seems sometimes to be new knowledge of former JWs...
It is after all acknowledged in the Proclaimer book and also mentioned in articles from time to time...
also the Pyramidology of Russel´s time is mentioned in the Proclaimer book, as well as the usage of cross and celebration of christmas.

Spain Branch's undercover operation during WYD(I)
by JHK inwhat is wyd?
: it is a great worldwide encounter with the pope which is celebrated every three years in a different country.
this time it was celebrated in madrid from august 16th to 21st, 2011.. spain branch, secretly, used 400 youth jehovah's witnesses --in blue jeans-- to preach the pilgrims.

Did you witness at school?
by NomadSoul ini grew up being a witness.
i remember in elementary and somewhat in middle school i used to be really outspoken about being a witness.
i even had my own study with a classmate, which thankfully he lost interest because i was getting tired of it too.. but high school was a different story.

The funny thing is that I took an active part in school activities any way. Was part of the school council, part of the editorial staff of the school newspaper and also giving the graduation talk on behalf of the students....

I most definitely did. Gave speeches, witnesses to teachers and fellow students. Had a magazine route at school.
Handed out literature (one friend of mine got so mad when he got to chapter 4 in the red youth book, so he threw it in the wall).
Studied with a fellow student at grammar school.
She became baptized and a pioneer. But got out of the organization before I did and resettled and doing fine now.
In my yearbook at grammar school it was stated somewhat humerously... XX is a Jehovah´s witness, but sometimes he forgets!
(But I always behaved properly, the only things I guess they refer to was when I did a solo cosack-dance in the classroom...

Do you think Jehovah's Witnesses have more attractive young adults than average?
by sabastious ini was recently hanging out with someone that went to the convention last weekend.
he/she mentioned that the convention was chock full of hotties and from my memory of the conventions, and i have been to dozens, he/she was right.
one thing that comes to mind is that witnesses can lose privileges within the congregation if they are too dirty so cleanliess (neatness) is especially important.

A month has passed and life has returned to close to normal, at least for those directly affected.
News concerning this action are still on the front page news every single day in one way or another.
The last funeral took place yesterday, cause the sister of one of the terror victims had to be admitted from hospital in order to attend the funeral.
A recent survey has shown that 1 out of 4 norwegians, a quarter of the population of five million, knows someone who has been affected by the terror shooting or bombs.
That shows how such an event has a major impact on a small country.
