  Jehovah's Witnesses Governing Body for Peace Prize 2013!- "Over 100 years in the service of peace."

  the current members of the governing body and their predecessors have for over one hundred years contributed to the advancement of peace and reconciliation, theodemocracy and human rights in more than 200 countries... on this account, the norwegian nobel committee has decided to nominate the governing body of jehovah's witnesses in 2013 for the nobel peace price.

  during the past week, 17 different articles on various practices of jws and comments to those, have been published on the web page of the norwegian equivalent of the bbc, nrk: http://www.nrk.no/nyheter/norge/1.8397366.

  in addition to this a special news programme with a discussion on sexual abuse and jw was broadcast on nrk2, and p1 contained an interview with an ex-jw on its weekly news summary programme.. it seems the expose is continuing..

  Now it has been brought to the next level. Last night NRK (the equivalent of the BBC) published this on their web site:

  Mr Bøhler is first deputy chair of the Standing Committee on Justice in the Parliament of Norway, the Storting.

  Interestingly, the press spokesman of Jehovah’s witnesses in Norway, now statues that they might be willing to take part in the public debate on this and offer more information.

  So it seems they are somewhat subduing to the intense media pressure. Of course, this having been raised to a political level makes it much more serious for the Watchtower society than simple negative statements in the press.

  Today, the ex-witnesses met with a member for the ruling labour party and also a member of the committee of justice at the Parliament (Storting) and explained a lot on various witness practices, e.g. also the non-involvement in politics, handling a abuse etc etc... There will most likely be an interview with them on NRK tomorrow.

  "Shepherd" book published online by National Broadcasting Agency in Norway!

  wow, did not think this was possible... the whole shepherd the flock - book available + some of the late boe letters regarding child abuse policies and secrecy, published here by nrk (the national broadcaster in norway).. http://www.nrk.no/contentfile/file/1.10660993!2010_ks10-e3vedl%20til%20slutt%20%282%29.pdf.

  wonder how long it will be before it is removed?.

  I feel this shared mixed sentiments. Remember very vividly how it was when JWs was exposed in the early 90s... Remember coming into the airplane when returning from our honeymoon and all the frontpages of the newspapers were filled with JW related issues and exposed throught several pages...

  Today, the norwegian equivalent of the BBS, NRK, have their weg pages floaded with JW related news items, esp focusing on child abuse and also shunning. Tonight, a half an hour news programme will be broadcast on NRK2. And an ex witness will be interviewed on live tv.
