I liked it. Should I be embarassed? It had a positive and uncontroversial message and did not even mention Jehovah once, just Jesus...

Oh I thought JWs were just a "normal" religion
by fresh prince of ohio ini have found that, since leaving jws, that few "wordly" people seem interested in hearing my escape story (although some certainly have shown great interest).
when i've mentioned that i used to be a jw and that i left, the reaction i've gotten on more than one occasion is a "oh i thought they were just a normal religion", and not only that, it's like they just weren't at all even open to the idea that jws could be a really strange and cultish group.
on these occasions, i felt a little lost for words trying to explain to people just how crazy jwism is, because there's so much crazy to tell about, where do you even start?.

In my country, JWs has been given so much bad press coverage during the years, botn on national TV and the press/periodicals of various kinds that almost everyone knows about their stance on blood, DF and shunning.

"Worlds Apart" A danish movie about a young coming of age Jehovahs Witness , screening on SBS2 tonight in Victoria
by smiddy ini know their have been screenings of this movie before , but this notice is for any newbies here that may not have seen it previously.
it is scheduled to screen at 10:25 pm on ch.32 sbs2 sun.25/8/13 .
maybe other states in australia can view it on-line , or request it be shown by sbs in their state.. it is an interesting movie , and apart from minor flaws , pretty accurate despite the beard, though i am told the danes are a bit more liberal than the west.. the real / actual jehovahs witness this story is based on has a cameo appearance near the end of this movie in the train sequence.. please let me know if you watch it and your thoughts about it .. smiddy.

I skipped Finland cause it is not Scandivia. It is also a republic. I Meant to state that even moustaches are not accepted in many congregations in those countries (Sweden/Denmark).

The term Scandinavia refer to three different countries, close, similar in some ways, yet different in others.
Elders having beards are accepted in Denmark, whereas it is not accepted in Sweden in Norway. Een moustaches are still not accepted in many countries in thouse countries, even for regular publishers, e.g. if you are to be enrolled in the TMS.

Jesus, the Money-Changers and ATM machines ?
by RubaDub ineverytime i go to an assembly, a picture with the atm machine comes to mind.. in one of the older publications there was a picture of jesus in the temple over-turning the tables of the money-changers.. come on photoshop people .... add a couple of atm machines falling down into the picture.. it would be great to have for a party and the time spent could be added to your monthly service time.. rub a dub.

Why does this create such a big fuss in the US? When they were implemented in Scandinavia, no one seemed to care that much.

Will Jehovah's Witnesses Populate Other Planets?
by God_Delusion inhi guys,.
when i was growing up and pressured into having a bible study (although we didn't use the bible that much), i would ask my bible study conductor questions like:.
why are there so many other planets?.

There was a paragraph or two that touched upon this subject in the 192 silver/greyish book about the Prince of Peace or something along that line. Remember I was the bookstudy conductor back then (just 20 yrs old) and I dismissed the whole idea by stating we did should not elaborate any further cause this was pure speculation.
